the battery is going weak. check voltage at battery when engine is off, should be at least 13 volts if alternator is ok. when running if alternator is ok, then it should read at battery post at least 14 to 14.5

Sounds like it would be the starter, but make sure you are using a good pair of jumper cables, and they are making a good connection to each vehicle. Also check to see that your battery terminals are tight.

If this is a 4.0L, it's under the intake manifold. You need to remove the fuel rails and the intake manifold to get to it. Not too bad really.

If the engine cranks but won't start, the battery and starter are out of the picture.
When it won't start, someone will need to check fuel pressure and for spark at the plugs to proceed.

How do i remove starter on 2001 aurora

unhook a battery terminal the negative, hoist car up, put jack stand under car, remove plastic cover from frt of starter,next remove wires from starter, then remove the two bolts holding starter, now starter comes right out.in stall new one in reverse order, hope this helps.
