2003 Honda pilot right rear door lock won't open from the inside only

About 2 months ago i could not open my right rear door from the inside of the car, no problem from the outside. I checked the child safety lock and it seems to be functioning properly judging only by looking/flipping on the left side rear door. Flipping the child safety lock on/off does not fix the problem. I am not sure if it is the child safety lock malfunctioning or if it is the door itself malfunctioning since it works from the outside just fine.

When I popped off the panel I found this small plastic piece that hooks the unlock rod to the inside pull handle was broken. All else is functioning properly. Problem solved.

Hi, I may have the same exact issue in my pilot. May I know where you get the replacement part? or do you know the name of that broken plastic hook part

I haven't got a chance to open the panel, but I believe the problem is same like yours. The handle feel light (feel like not hooked to anything) when being pulled. And guess what, it is also on the right side rear door of 2003 Honda Pilot.

I know this is a very old post. Hopefully you see this

I have a right rear door handle issue also, but it's the outside that won't work.

It sounds like the child safety lock has broken some how or the handle has come undone from the latch inside the door the inside panel will have to come off to confirm that.

SOURCE: 2003 Honda Pilot Rear door lock not working

If the driver door lock actuator fails the rest of the locks won't work. Also the automatic headlight switch won't turn them off and your battery runs down. It's fairly easy to fix the actuator but it is a little tedious. The actuator costs about $75 at the Honda dealer and about $50 online. If you're not sure how to do this get a manual for the car or pay the dealer. There are a lot of connectors inside the door and several linkages so you have to be careful, patient, and don't force things apart. When you do it right everything comes apart pretty easy.

Remove the panel and disable the child lock or some cars have an option to just bypass the child lock either or

SOURCE: 2003 honda pilot right rear door lock does not

if all others are working properly you are most likely having a problem with the door lock actuator in that door

2003 Honda pilot door locks and remote not working

There is a small electric motor inside the actuator assembly that has probably "burned out". Same problem with my 03 pilot. The remote would not lock the other doors or arm the security system unless you physically locked the driver's side door. Eventually my passenger side burned out as well. Fixed it myself pretty easily. Cheap fix too. works like new now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/120935451126?var=420082237231&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Little switch on the door is probably the child lock that prevents the door being opened from inside to make it safer for young children.

Historically most cars of my experience have rear doors with this facility.
