I have a 1995 Previa that has recently been overhauled because of a blown head gasket. I purchased the van with the gasket blown so I have no history on how it ran before the gasket blew. After the overhaul the engine idles fine when cold but idles at about 1200 RPM when hot. I have checked and adjusted valve clearance, and timing. I do not detect any vacuum leaks. I have checked the mechanical idle stop and it is not holding the throttle body valve open. I have also checked the idle control valve and don't think there is anything wrong with it. Engine performs fine, has plenty of power and doesn't rattle when climbing a hill.

should the throttle body be smoking when I open the butterfly valve when my engine is off but hot?
