check and test oil pressure sender --sender also has a micro mesh filter that cloggs which can cause shut down --also check when stalls if its fuel or spark --shutting down w/no codes their are a few reasons beside oil --coil -fuse --fuel pump--cam /crank sensor --cat converter etc
Have you checked the oil level in the vehicle? How do you know it has low oil pressure? Does it have an oil pressure gauge or id10t light on the dash? If the car quits running by itself after about a minute and a half due to low oil pressure I think it is safe to say that some engine damage is occurring.
Oil light is rather important it goes out if oil pressure is good comes on if oil pressure is low when it comes on damage is expected with continued operation like wearing of main bearings and pistons and cylinders can lead to a engine rebuild
Yes it can, some engines will shut down. Depends on the year of your engine and the way the computer is setup, most newer engines will shut off to protect itself from damage.
You are most likely in a state of partial seizure. I would take that car to a pro quick as your oil pump sounds like its failing and causing the car to lock up and die. Sorry to say but by the sound of it you are going to be in the market for a new motor or a car very soon.
If the oil pressure light ever comes on while you are at speed, the damage has already been done.
The oil light does not indicate the car is low on oil (based on your discription) it indicates the oil pressure is low, the no start is most likely due to this low pressure and the fuel pump has been cut off to prevent damage to the engine from low oil pressure. Please have a shop locate the cause of the low oil pressure warning and repair it as needed. It could be a false light or a real one, which means if you drove it very far you may have damaged the engines bearings.
Doubt it had anything to do with the oil change or belts replacement unless they were done wrong. e.g. improper oil or belt placement. Sputtering, as you stated usually comes from the fuel system. Check that.
If its reading low oil pressure I would first change your oil and filter.A clogged oil filter will cause your oil pressure to drop. Also remove your pressure sending unit and hook up a direct oil pressure guage to see what your actual pressure is.Its very possible that your oil pump could be bad. Those would be the most probable reasons for low oil pressure. The engine shut down means that your your engine has a fail safe to protect your motor from blowing up.
I don't think a 92 sundance will shut the fuel pump down when the oil pressure is low, but it might. Can you get it to run on carb cleaner. If it is oil pressure, the car should start then run a few seconds and die. Have you checked the timing belt? If it broke the distributor will stop turning which would stop the oil pump.
