Passager side rear autmatic door will not close

Automatic door would not close. I did a manual override and forced it closed. then when reopened a cable is falling out of the track. Now when driving the poor van is sounding all the alarms and flashing all the lights. How to fix it?

  • Brenda Meyer Sep 17, 2013

ours did this multiple times, they always fixed it when under warranty. First time after warranty they said it would cost over $6,000 they cut cables because even they could not get the bells to stop. They said they had no solutions other than to take doors off again and put new doors on. Good luck!

Your wire has come off door inside the door try unpluging fuse or the noise alarm under dash you need to replace the wires inside the sliding door to get it to close right again they have got tangled some how and tore loose.

I have removed the fuse and have the door shut no more alarm. Now I am off to research how to repair the cables. I can fix it on another day and just not use that door.

SOURCE: Venture van power door problem

It sounds as though one of the proximity sensors is faulty. Also try giving the tracks for the door a good shot of white spray lithium grease. The door may be binding enough so that the emergency reverse is kicking in.

SOURCE: 03 Chevy Suburban says right rear door ajar when closed

Replace the rear door pin-switch if needed after testing proper operation.
It is telling the alarm the door is open all the time.
Most likely corroded terminals or wire.

SOURCE: what causes drivers side power sliding door not to

Look at safey neutral swith for being broken. Replace safety neutral switch and your problem is gone. Yellow wire on sliding door control module is control by safety neutral switch which also provides power to back up light.

Your problem is most likely a broken door lock assembly. The closing assist actuators work with vacuum/pressure from the PSE pump and they break. The usual point of failure is the locks that hold the actuator together. You may try to find a way to reassemble the actuator, but the best fix is to replace the door lock assembly. Unfortunately MB does not make individual repair parts available for these cars.

Passenger door has dropped and has to be lifted to close can any one give any guidance

It sounds like the hinge bolt came loose. If it comes loose, the door can sway up and down. I would check that, and if this is the case, get somebody to help you by lifting the door up on the end of it while you tighten the bolt. You have to get it just right, it may take a few times.

Cleaning with alchol or sand paper didn't work. Turn on the manual override switch that cuts the power to the door. My 98 venture started doing that a few years ago. I had a few people look at it but no luck. Guess you're gonna have to do it the old fasion way. Drove me crazy. Good luck

2002 Honda Odyssey: sliding door jolts/reopens when closing

Please check the aft track roller assembly. It is easiest to inspect from the rear of the van looking forward when the door is open. You'll see the rear hinge assembly clearly. The track rollers cannot be seen but you can pull outboard on the rear edge of the door--the door should not move outboard more than 1/8 of an inch. If it moves out more than this or feels sloppy, suspect damaged/missing track rollers. This will cause the hinge to chatter in the track and "jolt". It will also cause the door to misalign during the close phase preventing the close motor from properly engaging.
Replacing this part is no easy task but doable if you are good with cars. Check back here for more details if you want to try it, otherwise get a competent mechanic or the Honda dealership to do it.
