My wife recently purchased a 2005 Toyota Echo 4dr, auto, a/c with 35,000km on the odometer from local Toyota dealership. Have noticed an intermittent, sometimes pronounced rattle/vibration which seems to emminate from the front of the car under the hood ... which occurs while idling at stop with trans in "Drive" and car held on brake. This car otherwise looks & runs like new.
I am stumped, cannot locate the source of this noise nor can readily see anything under the hood that might be loose and vibrating!
All advice appreciated! Thanks!
Hi and welcome to FixYa. Please try this:
GO out to the car, and lift up on the hood. Does it raise a bit and rattle? If so;
Open the hood, and look at the perimeter of the front radiator support. You will see 2 small rubber thingys, that look like that they are screwed onto the metal that is holding the radiator. Unscrew them a little, and close the hood. Pull up on the hood and see if the rattle goes away. If not, repeat unscrewing the rubber things until the lift disappears.
A FixYa rating (4 blue diamonds) would be greatly appreciated for my assistance.

Thank you very much! Followed your instructions and indeed found that the hood raised and rattled a little when pulling up on it while latched ... adjusted to 2 rubber stops up unit movement disappeared ... and this "seems" to have cured the problem!
