I jumped someone for their battery was dead and now my 1997 infiniti J 30 will start but kills battery. I either burnt up alternater or blown a fuse.
Car will run a while then die. Battery light comes on.
Take the battery out and take it to a parts store to have it tested. They will charge it up, put it under different loads, and really check it. If it's bad, then just replace it and use the one you have for the core charge.
The next step if the battery is OK is definately your alternator. You can also take it off and have it tested to see if it's working properly. Again, most parts stores like Advance and O'reilly's have the means to test them.
An alternator will not charge a battery back up to where it needs to be. To charge a battery properly, it really needs to be charged with a battery charger at a slow rate. You can try this first if you like, however it sounds like your battery may be bad. Or possibly your alternator went bad and now it's killed your battery too.
If the engine if getting too low of voltage, it will of course die due to lack of electricity to power all the fuel injection and spark components.
