Power windows not working

A few years ago one of my windows stopped working, and eventually (after a month or so) it came back to life. Over time, all of the windows would occasionally stop working and then work again. This has gone on for at least 2 years and I would just deal with it, but now only one of them is working and the rest have been non-functioning for about 8 or so months. I don't know if its a fuse problem because the windows would stop working and eventually start again. If it was fuse-related, wouldn't it stop and never work again? It makes no sense, help!

Remove the door panel on a non working window and at the window motor hook a multimeter to each of the 2 wires then try it at the master switch. IT should be 12V. You can also try hooking it to a battery one way is up the other is down. Usually if it is an intermittent power window it is caused by broken wires inside the drivers door flexible rubber between door and interior.

My daughters 05 Taurus the power windows stop work

The windows likely need new motors. A pain to install. Sounds like this car is coming to the end of life. The cars is likely worth 2500 if everything was working. Don't put $500 in power window repair, because then you will have fan repair and many other nickel and dime issues.

If she can ride-share with someone (you) for a few months as she save up a down payment and buys a newer Toyota or Honda or Nissan.

Good luck

The power windows are not working. To start with they will go down little bit and then stop in the middle. It might take some time to go down later but eventually it has stopped doing that also

sounds like the guides need lubricating.
i find liberal doses of spray furniture polish down the guides and the glass work quite well.
unlike wd40 or oils and greases, furniture polish wipes off and leaves a lovely shine as well as lubricating everything. it also smell nicer. it may need to be done a few times before everything frees up properly and it does not last as long as oil/grease so i use it every 2-3 months

Sounds like a battery if it just clicks once. You hardly get a whir whir out of the starter right? The lights may appear somewhat normal because they don't need much power to turn on but the starter needs LOTS of power to turn over. The average life of an alkaline battery is about 6 years.Good luck! Rear window wiper works for a few days or weeks

Check the plug is completely plugged into the motor. Maybe a bad connection in the motor itself. Also check the switch, try wiggling it when turning on.

Starting issues,

have your battery check first.ive never seen a battery that will last for 5 years.shelf life starts as soon as the acid is added to the battery.

I have the same problem since 1 year. getting worse every months.

its more than likely going to be the camshaft dephaser, this is quite a costly job as it requires replacing along with the cambelt and auxillary belt, its a common fault
