Looking for where neutral safty switch is - 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

Standard or automatic transmission? Why do you want to bypass it?

check a shop manual for the info or you could also call a tranny shop and see if they can tell you

The Neutral Safety Switch is a switch that senses that the shifter on an automatic transmission is in the PARK or NEUTRAL position, before the car is able to be started, and unintentionally roll away.

REPLACE THE SWITCH.

the neutral safety switch is on the metric tranny with wires coming out of it up to the engine

Hi, the reverse lights run threw the neutral safty switch.It may be out of adjustment,have a bad gromet on the shift cable or the switch is bad.It is located on the transmission under the shifter cable.Testing the switch. Turn the ignition to the on poss.with the gear selector start in the park poss. move threw rev.to neutral and watch for the lights to come on if thay come on adj.the switch or replace the gromet.If lights don,t come on,replace the neutral safty switch. ok Let me walk you through this,,

1. remove switch from transmission
2. get a piece of wire and connect it to the positive battery terminal..
3. touch each wire on the switch you will see and indicator light up on the dash ,, for example if you touch one,, you will see P light up, ,thats the park wire..,, so you will find wires P,R,N,D,1,2, thats the wire for the shifter..
   
4. connect the last wire on the switch to the wire that light up N (neutral) and you should start..

pull a wire and ground it via useing a screw driver at the end of the spark plug boot to check for spark / if their is no spark / ignition control module / there is also a crank shaft position sensor / located on the back side of the motor under the coil packs / pain to get to / also the nuetral safty switch / to check the neutral safty switch diconnect the big harnest at the neutral safty switch put a fuse tester to the yellow wire / have someone turn the key / with the tester grounded the light should come on / now we know the ignition switch has power going through it. if there is a no power at the yellow wire / bad ignition switch / does the car have a relay located at the top of the radiator core support (up by the radiator looking down drivers side)if it does not gm will install one for free / if there is / look for the purple wire coming out of the relay and Follow it down to the starter / reconnect the neutral safty swtch / touch the small S (the smallest screw) terminal on the starter soilenoid / have someone turn the key forward check the light / this will detemine if the relay is good / CAREFULL NOT to touch the big starter wire with the little one it will jump the starter / I HAVE THE SAME CAR / Hope this helps
