I am to be agreeing with yipete... yup...non adjustable (but if over 190k check for stretch in chain. They can give some really weird symptoms if this happens!!! cam sensor goes out of phase with crank sensor and computer can't figure it out but it won't show up on scan)

I am to be agreeing with yipete... yup...non adjustable!!! got a problem look somewhere else. But, you can check chain for strech!!! (over 190k they can get weird on you!!!)

The timing is controlled by the computer and is not adjustable. What makes you thing the timing is off. The 2.5L has a timing chain, not a belt, so there should'nt be any reason to replace it unless it broke.

You could have vacumm problems making it seem like the timing is off, but the other guys are right on the timing!!!! it could be throw-body problems, like crack manifold problems. This year has thhis type of problem sometime. Try spraying WD-40 around the vacuum hoses, & manifold to see if the motor changes rpm????

95 jeep wrangler: gauge indicates 0 oil pressure

Wire on oil sending unit may have fallen off or sensor itself may have gone bad. Check both. If engine has no tapping noises, likely it's not a pressure problem.

Will a 1998 jeep 4L 2.5 motor work in a 1991 jeep wrangler?

Most likely yes. One thing about the older Jeeps is that they did not change the models much from year to year. If the two jeeps had the same engine, they are probably nearly 100% interchangeable.

1998 Jeep Wrangler hard starting when engine hot

I know that a lot of starters will not start quickly and draw a lot of power if the engine is up to temp. Try a higher CCA battery (Cold Cranking Amp) Battery, your bat may be to low of a rating. If it has a remotely mounted solenoid, not on the starter. If it does it may be mounted somewhere that it gets to hot, relocate to a cooler portion of the engine bay.
