SOURCE: Dodge Ram 1500...heater is blowing cold air, even

Take a flashlight and look up under dash from center console area, across to passenger side, for wiring harness, and/or hoses(small rubber) , they should lead you to it. Haven't had my head under one of those recently, and having a problem tracking you down a diagram for some reason, but it has to be there.

SOURCE: air only blows on floor with very little coming out the defrost or regular vents.

Hope you have the same set up, sure you do. You may have either crossed your vaccum lines or when you were putting your heater/ac box back together or you may of pinched the vents somewhat closed. Cycle through the different zones to ensure the vents are moving as your are selecting (defrost, floor, ect...) If you think the vaccum lines are correct then you may have a reassembly issue with the Heater/ac box. I had the same problem with my 2000 Dodge Ram 4x4. Use the KISS rule "keep it simple stupid" start with the vaccum lines and all your wiring to the motors, make sure everything is plugged in. Hopefully you'll find it there before going back into the box again.

There is a actuator on the right side of your leg while sitting in the drivers seat under the dash. It has a plastic rod for actuation manually actuate this diverter and should be the problem.

You have broken doors in your HVAC housing. This is a common problem with the older body style Rams. Does require moving the dash, but it's a fairly simple process.

Started out with cold air coming out the vents

I'm no 'expert' but it sounds like possibly 2 different problems. Your heat comes from warm/hot coolant circulating through the heater core, and the fan blowing air through/over it. If your thermostat is not opening the coolant won't circulate. Thermostat is a not too difficult or costly starting place. No air flow leads me to think you have a blower motor issue, perhaps start with the fuse. Hope this helps.

A/C works fine, the blower's fine, replaced thermostat, no heat.

If you don't hear a thud or noise of a flap opening or closing when switching between hot and cold then a lever is probably broken.
