2004 chrysler pt cruiser starter motor removal

How do you remove the starter motor on a 2004 pt cruiser? It's the non turbo engine. I need to remove the starter motor so I can get to the crankshaft sensor. Thanks!

I just installed an aftermarket cd player into a 2004 PT Cruiser. All of the speakers work except for the tweeters. All that I am getting through them is static. I purchased the wiring harness for the PT Cruiser, but still only have static in the tweeters.

You may sneak it out with small fingers with out pulling out the starter.

If starter removal is required,Just unhook the battery cables,Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter on.

How do i change the turbo motor and put a non turbo motor in a 2003 pt cruiser

Changing out an entire engine is no easy feat. The biggest difference you'll have is with the exhaust system. The non turbo engine connects differently.

Where is crank sensor on 2005 PT Cruiser? It absolutely is not above the oil filter as on 01-03 PT's.

REMOVAL - 2.0, 2.4, 2.4L TURBO
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is in the front of the engine block just under the starter motor (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR LOCATION).

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise vehicle and support.
On 2.4L SRT-4 remove the lower inner cooler hose from the metal tube.
Remove the Structural Collar (Structural Collar and Bending Strut-(Automatic Transaxle Equipped) ), refer to the Engine, Structural Collar Removal and Installation section.
Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector to the crankshaft position sensor.
Remove the crankshaft position sensor bolt.
Remove the sensor. Arrow points to sensor in picture.

Replacing 2004 PT Cruiser Starter

He can do it. Tell him to just be patient (everything is a tight fit in a PT) and remember to disconnect the battery first. No special tools are required. He may have to move a bracket or two for access. It lives on the left side (front) of the motor and easiest to get to from underneath.
