I replaced the tranny in my 98 Grand Caravan Sport. It was time consuming but not terribly difficult. All of the sensors were on different jacks so it was easy to put the electrical parts back together. The flywheel was a pain though, the holes didn't quite match up but the person I bought the replacement tranny from told me to drill the hole out larger and it was fine. I would label every thing you can. Get a script for valum and take your time, thats what I did. It helped to have someone there to help me drop the tranny and lift the new tranny in. Hope this helps. I will keep an eye on this post in case there is something I can help with.

How do I bypass a/c on 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan

Question moved from Television and video to Dodge Grand Caravan category.

'disconnect tunes and such'?? 'tubes'?

You disconnect everything and you fit a Bypass Pulley. This enables you to use the same size belt and it keeps the serpentine belt routing the same.

Removal of the AC compressor is half of replacing it. There are videos here.

2016 dodge grand caravan, Ken is this an expensive fix? what is the better route open transmission and fix it or install new transmission

This really depends on what the problem is. If it is an issue that can be fixed without removing the transmission, then it is probably cheaper to fix it that replace it. If it has to be removed anyway, you may want to consider replacing it. This would probably be determined by the cost difference between the removal and repair and removal and replace.

2010 dodge caravan

On the bottom of the auto transmission there is a belly pan, this pan must be removed to drain the fluid out of the transmission and replace the internal fluid filter. So you will need a large drain pan to catch the fluid and a floor jack to raise the van and safety stands to support it while you remove the bolts that hold the pan on, there is no drain plug so this is a VERY messy job. Clean off the old gasket completely, use no sealer and use a high quality trans pan gasket, the dealer is best or you will have leakage problems, tighten the bolts to 12-14 pounds of torque with a torque wrench, this is very important.

2004 dodge grand caravan, will not roll over at all, shift indicator light says it is in reverse, will not register park or neutral.

The mode switch(neutral safety) in the transmission is bad,This will require valve body removal and draining of the transmission. Will walk you through it if you want to try.

Trans code po 715 for 1998 dodge grand caravan

Hi
P0715 is for the transmission input speed sensor. This sensor is used for shifting control. It's mounted on the front of the trans, threaded in just under where the cooler lines meet the trans. It has a two wire electrical connector, and a 1" hex for a socket for removal.

This code could be caused by the sensor's wiring, but it's very likely to be the sensor itself and it will need to be replaced. This isn't an uncommon failure.

The input speed sensor runs less than $20 at a parts store and will be in stock at any parts store or dealer. It only takes a few minutes to replace.

Need to replace the starter on a 1997 dodge grand caravan

to remove the starter from motor you need to disconnect the battery negative wire from the battery. then remove the battery wire and start wire from solenoid. remove the bolts holding the starter to the transmission bellhousing. then remove starter. installation is the reverse of removal.

Removal the flywheel and change

Not quick fix here. Best thing is remove transmission, If you decide to do it or have it done, go ahead and replace the engine rear main seal and the transmission seal behind the torque convertor. Service the transmission as you will end up losing alot of fluid in the process. get a book at the Auto parts store or library. If you find a shop to do it you may bee looking at 500.00

Can you tell or show me where the ground strap is located on a 1998 dodge grand caravan? I just had to put in a new transmission and it will not shift out ..I was told to check the ground strap as well as...

the ground strap is bolted to the transmission housing next to the starter bolt.the transmission not shifting may be caused by the computer and may need to be reprogrammed for the new transmission.
