The white substand is the mixture of oil and antifreeze coolant. also check if this is accumulating in the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
as mentioned this can come from condensation but in large quanties this MAY indicate cylindar head problem or cracked motor block between the oil channls and the water jacket if performance is effected then you have a problem.
Probably not a blown head gasket, maybe, but more than likely a condensation issue. - The 2.0 engines are prone to suffering from condensation issues - which will eventually lead to needing new plugs and coil packs...
Oil consumption is unfortunately pretty normal too. VW won't do squat unless its about 1 qt every 1000 miles...
What kind of daily driving do you do?
Blown head gasket. I would get it to the shop right away. You are starting to mix oil and water and the problem will only get worse until fixed. And the warranty will cover this

I have the same problem. Loosing oil way too soon. Have had the oil light go on several times now. Never had this problem with another vehicle.
