I have exactly the same problem. 03 Micra. Causes an alarm to come on and then the immobiliser kicks in and the car will not start. the other day the whol car locked with me inside and I could not get it anything to open - very scary! The passenger door is also dodgy. Does your car also refuse to turn over despite the fact that all the dash-board lights are on?

I have the similar problem. My boot opened and I shut it then I drove off it opened again. I shut the boot again and then locked the doors from inside to stop it opening again. About 10 minutes later a continuous bleeping noise came on. When I got to the destination I turned the engine off and the beeping continued. I tried to open the boot it would not open. I went back ino the car and used the internal unlock button. This stopped the beeping but has not rectified my boot problem. I cannot open my boot can any one help??????????

Graham1974, spot on, you've described my probem perfectly; mine's in the garage for the 4th time as we speak, with an autoelectrician. I had a new boot lock fitted (nearly £200 at a main dealer, who had no idea how to solve this), and my local garage has taken apart the boot lock and reassembled it (free, after failing to rectify is on their first attempt) but this hasn't worked either, hence they've called in the autoelectrician. Not sure if it makes any difference mine's keyless (1.2 SE). I'll let you know if they achieve anything today.

And the verdict is...not the electrics, they're fine, must be some central control unit at £300 + vat+fitting...not impressed, not something I can live with, but if this is a problem endemic to the car, Nissan should be paying to put this right, not me! My local dealers were clueless when I approached them (clueless, but expensive). We were going to buy a Note, but this has totally put me off, so Nissan's loss too. Good luck to all those in the same situation.

the boot kept opening up when i was driving now it wont open up at all.and now iv got a rattling noice when im driving .

  • micraprob Apr 23, 2009

I got into mine this morning and the boot was open, so I stopped, got out and shut it. Then it released again so I did the same again..............a ten minute journey to worked turned into half an hour.

I pressed the internal button to lock all the doors and the poxy thing then just let out a loud continuous beep and then stopped. Managed to get to work without it opening again (5 minutes.....big woop!!) and have parked the damn thing right up against a hedge in the car park so no one can get into it. Locked the car and the last thing I heard was "pop" as the bastard thing opened AGAIN!!!!!!

Its going into the garage for investigation tomorrow-not nissan main dealer but my usual garage. Will report back when I know more!

    Seriously annoyed!!!

The problem is water getting into the boot switch and shorting out the contacts. A new boot switch is required which you can get from nissan for about £55. I have recently fitted one myself and its a very easy and quick job to do.

I fixed mine by giving the switch a spray of Servisol electrical contact cleaner (a local electrical shop sells it, you may be able to get it from Maplins). I have fixed many electrical items with it, eg dodgy switches, solonoids etc

In this case however, the switch eventually packed up, though I was able to replace it with a microswitch and some glue, and have used waterproof tape to keep it dry - that was over a year ago and it is still working fine

I know this is quiet an old thread but I have the same problem with my micra before seeing this noticed the handle to the boot has water in it. so if I just change the switch won't the problem come back at some time. The handle should have some sort of seal around it to prevent the water getting in in the first place.

  • p1nto May 22, 2010

Yeah i can confirm it is the micro switch but do not been fooled into paying £55 for a replacement, i actually went to RS components(you could try maplin) and bought a micro switch and fitted that for £0.95. it took a little creative tinkering as it was not a copy but i can live with the knowledge that nissan didnt get anything else out of me for their faulty design. there is another way you can try which is free, basically all you need to do is secure 1 wire to plastic spring and then the other wire to where the switch was and thats it. basically all you need to do is create a contact between the 2 wires when the button is pressed which is why i said to use the plastic spring inside the unit. so save yourself some money and be a little creative

also while you are in there doing your own repairs make sure to seal it up properly, get some silicon or something to create a water tight seal since this is the reason why it has broken in the first place.

Hi, my central locking wont unlock the boot (renault clio 2002).

Its sounds like a sticky boot lock it wont be the remote, open the boot with the key and spray all around the lock and lock mechanism with WD-40 then lock and unlock keep repeating unlock, lock using both the key and remote it should free off.

Be sure to use plenty of WD-40 on the underside of the boot lid into the mechanism dont be shy with it.

Hope this helps.
