1993 blazer 4.3 CPI won't start when cold. It cranks over fine and does start after 30 or 40 five second crank intervals. Sometimes when the battery gets run down from cranking forever , I have too boost it and it starts right up like nothing was wrong. I also tried to boost the truck in the morning before trying to start and it does the exact same thing but starts after 10 to 15 attempts. During these attempts to start, it spits and sputters and try to start ,but won't . If i use the remote start (Viper professionally installed 500.00) when the truck is cold it cranks over so many times i have to stop it with the remote ! When it starts it runs great and the starting issue is gone , Only after cooling down for 5 or 6 hours( or below 40 oC) will the starting issue return. It does the same in summer or winter , New fuel pump, I have 55 lbs fuel pressure at plenum , New starter(Hitachi) New alternator (Hitachi) I have spark at plugs, clean K&M air filter, I replaced spider and nut kit. I replaced all electrical sensors . Motor was professionally rebuilt less than 100,000 KMS ago. Will a clogged EGR Valve cause this problem? I have been dealing with this problem for a year or so now. It seems like a lot of people have this same problem with this CPI motor. Any suggestions would help THANKS Paul

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank
SOURCE: Blazer takes forever to start
Have you done a leak down test on the fuel pump? If the pump check valve doesn't hold pressure the fuel drains back to the fuel tank, then you have prime the lines with fuel before any is delivered to the injectors, hence a long crank time. Install a fuel pressure guage and start the engine, then turn off the engine and wait overnightm the system should not loose more than 5 PSI

does it make any difference if the engine is cold or warm ? if when its warm and it starts ok your spider part is not working properly or not plugged in right check it again .. check it by using starting fluid if it starts ok its the spider part bad .. did you replace it with new ? holler if you need more Jerry

sounds like youve really done your home work all that comes to mind now is try a cam posistion sensor this would keep your car from starting as well if that is good you can aslo try a crank sensor. you will get all of the readings that you are getting and these sensors can still be bad.
