So, the driver's door on my 1989 saab 9000 is jammed. In a cold spell I forced turning the key in the lock and something happened inside that door so that nothing happens now when I turn the key. ALso, the 'tab' inside the door does nothing when it is lifted. Hence, the door is permanently locked shut and I'm unable to get the door panel off and have been getting in and out by the passenger side door. Help?

Close any open doors, and lock them all from the driver's door. You should hear the other doors locking when you turn the key in the driver's door. Check the other doors to make sure the lock indicators are in the "Locked" position.
Wait at least 15 seconds. Then, unlock the driver's door with the key. This should disable the alarm.

thanks Turbo. i've gotten the panel partially peeled back, but pulling up on the 'tab' rod still doesn't seem to disengage the door lock. Ideas?
