When i push the gas pedal it seems to not want to move and then it take off real fast

HOW many miles on the engine (REDUX)?/? 3.5L V6 engine? or 2.5 or the Diesel??????????
I'd have to drive IT to know.
let me guess the mech tested the car and it ran OKAY, so says" I can't find the problem. " ( what else")
you never told what the engine does , when it does fail and is Intermittent.
just that engine is ON. (runs)
and car does not move, sometimes.
what matters first, only when it fails, is does ENGINE RPM RISE fast and high when it fails.
see how that works, if it did the transmission is slipping (CVT are not fun here)
2500 RPM when it fails, right foot in to the throttle pedal this is transmission slip (failure)
if RPM are low failed, that is engine failure. (lean burning) or EGR stuck on or other problems , many.

lost engine power. has lots of causes; but this is gas(petrol) answer.

1: engine failing ,top cause , VVT or that chain loud noise? ?
2: spark plugs bad over 100k miles, (not diesel)
3: fueling bad, even bad fuel, or goes lean due to fuel pressure loss.(low) fuel pump weak?

Worn out Transfer Case

Rebuild it -------DO NOT install a used junk yard unit

You will need to open the hood and have someone watch the throttle as you push the gas pedal, see if the throttle arm moves as you push on the pedal, this may be due to a bad cable or it may be off its holding bracket or loose. start with this test.

If the engine cranks ("rrr-rrr-rrr") when you turn the key, then the problem isn't the starter or the battery.Plan to have at least one person sitting in the driver's seat and one or two persons pushing.Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, lamps).Turn the key to the "on" position.Depress the clutch pedal with your foot.Put the transmission in first or second gear.Release the hand brake and the foot brake.Note that the people pushing need to get the car rolling as fast as they can. so what year is this car?? 2001 or 2006??

press the gas pedal on the floor and turn the key on then real fast mash the gas peal 3 times fast on the trird time hold it on the floor tell the oil light resets it self count to ten. should work just fine.

It's important to adjust the pedal in this case. On the floor near the pedal there should be a nob or other adjustment. Turn or crank it until it is tighter, you should notice this moving the gas pedal closer to the floor. The only down side to doing this is that when you floor your pedal, you won't go as fast.

This problem could be as simple as a TPS (throttle position sensor). Some vehicles are now drive by wire. This means that there is no actual throttle cable. When the gas pedal is depressed, it sends a signal to the CPU and tells how far the pedal has been pushed. How many miles do you have on this? Sometimes a plugged catalytic converter can cause a vehicle to accellerate slowly and cause you to "butterfly" the pedal and make it hard to get over 60-70 MPH. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Thats what I thought. Locate your shift cables on drivers side where they attach to transmission on top. The linkages they are attached to are very prone to seizing up because of the location of them. Your throttle valve cable is there to on the very top of that linkage. You need to get lots of penetrating spray (like WD-40) on there and keep working them until they move freely. Eventually you'll be able to move that top part by hand easily, turn it back & forth until it loosens up real good. Once you get them moving freely, give them a good coat of spray grease like with lithium grease. that should last quite a while. You may be able to get at it better by removing battery & tray if it's on that side still & in the way of getting to it. Have you had any hard downshifting or hanging up & revving high before it goes in to next gear when driving?
