Your stereo problem could also be a broken amp (located directly behind stereo). The cheapest fix if your amp is broken is to buy a new stereo with a built-in amp.

1996 Volvo 850. No electrical power.

You may have a bad positive battery cable, with a digital volt meter you can test and see if you are getting 12 volts through the entire cable or at least to the cable junction block, in or by fuse relay center, then check cable from there to starter. you should also check the main, battery, power, fuses and relays, usually in the under hood relay center(fuse box)

Clock stopped on volvo

What model volvo? I'm guessing it's a fuse, so maybe it's as simple as removing the fuse cover on the side of the dash, accessible when you open the driver side door?
The inside of the lid will have the layout of the fuses so you'll see which is for power locks/clock.

Ac stopped working, then lost raido and clock and now power door locks wont work

Start at fuse box... replace fuses blown. is it an after market stereo? if so may have exposed wires shorting out in back, which are any 12volt wires that are bare and touch any metal on car.

Power door locks do not work unless the ignition switch is on, radio and dome lights also do not work.

look for another fuse box in or under dash. still sounds like you have a blown fuse. look in owners manual for all fuse box locations, including underhood electrial center. good luck.

Radio, clock, interior light and central locking not working

This is as a result of a short occurring most likely in the radio harness.

It happened me while working on a customers car. In my case checked all fuses and they all appeared fine, both those under the hood/bonnet and those underneath the steering wheel.

After studying the workshop electrical schemmatics for the car it appears that the clock, interior lights, central locking receiver and radio permanent live/battery are all on the one line.

In effect damage had occurred after the internal fuse panel, therefore all fuses were ok and supplying power across them, but at some point after there was a break in the wire.

However you DO NOT need to remove dash and or replace harnesses to rectify.

Look at the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel. Slot 18 (bottom RHS) and you will see in raised plastic 'BACK UP'. Inserting a 10A fuse here will restore the interior lights, radio, clock and your central locking.

There is a small plastic piece in the way which prevents a fuse going in. Simply use a thin pair of pliers, scissors or a screwdriver (or similar tool) to break this and all pieces of it away until you are able to insert the 10A mini blade fuse.

Problem Sorted!

(I believe the fact this back up exists is because the designers of electrical system at mitsibushi realised it had shortcomings or this would be a potential problem - and included the back up for such an occurence)

In my 2000 volvo s80, the radio stop working and the door lock button and the dome lights are intermittent. I checked all the fuses and are all good.

Try resetting the electrical system by locking and unlocking the doors with your key in the driver's door 5 times in a row. A service manager at a Volvo dealer showed me this after they did some work on my car and on the way home the sunroof wouldn't close.

I have a 2001 S80 that I have to reset the electrical system like this every time I disconnect the battery. All kinds of stuff stops working...sun roof, door locks, lights, radio, windows, etc. Just reset like described and everything should start working again.

Good luck.

My radio/cd/clock stopped working. There doesn't

Check the fuse in the fuse box. Look on the fuse box door to see which fuse is for the radio. Some times its listed as ACC. Pull the fuse and look to see it is burned. If it is go to any auto supply store or even Walmart and get a replacement of the same amperage. The number will be clearly stamped on the fuse. If this one blows than it could be a problem beyond the fuse.
