I really have no idea what you are speaking about since I just joined this forum today, although it appears you simply enjoy spouting rude and unhelpful remarks which would explain why someone would want to charge you for the time, just to prevent you from wasting your own money. Check your Transmission Fluid, if it has a burnt smell you are going to need a rebuild. If it is the right level and clean check to make sure that the shifter is actually shifting the transmission by watching the shift selector lever on the transmission while someone shifts the gear shift inside the car.
Check transmission fluid, add if required - also take note of the color and smell of the fluid on the dip stick. If it has grayish black particulate or smells like burnt wiring you most likely have burnt up clutch packs in the transmission. Good luck.
No gears at all is not a good sign. About the only things that can cause all the gears to go out at the same time is either the transmission has a severe fluid leak and there is no fluid left to engage the clutches or you have something broken like an input shaft.
If your truck is a 4X4 make sure there is not something silly like the transfer case being in neutral.
Otherwise, check your fluid level. If it is really low, then you need to find out why. If it is not low, look at the color of the fluid and smell the fluid. Good fluid should be pink or red. Bad fluid will be dark brown and will have a burnt smell to it.
If the fluid looks and smells bad, then it is probably time for a transmission overhaul.
You say transmission fluid levels are good. Is it a nice red or pink color or is it an orange, brown to black color. Does the vehicle actually shift into gear, the linkage from the gear shift from park to drive or reverse maybe be unhooked you can check that out also. Does the trans fluid smell burnt, should be kind of a sweet smell. Good Luck
The transmission is nearly dry. Add some transmission fluid! Automatic transmissions require oil pressure for the car to move, and if you don't have enough oil in it, it won't build up enough pressure to move the car
It seems like your transmission bands are slipping, it may be time for a transmission overhaul or you coiuld be low on fluid. Check your transmission fluid, if it is a pinkish color it is clean, if it is a dark red or black color and if you smell it it, it smells burnt you may have some damage to your transmission.
If it's an automatic transmission check your fluid with the car running in park, if it isn't low on fluid the transmission filter might need to be replaced. Id the transmission fluid has a burned smell to it you have worse problems possibly burned clutches which requires replacing the transmission or a rebuild
Start with a complete flush of the trany and torque converter, and a filter replace. That should fix the problem, but the Taurus has a bad reputation for trany's going out frequently.
