Key fob or hatch lever near the symbol on the hatch door. You didn't indicate a particular problem but here are some videos that address a variety of situations:
This is a rotating latch assembly.
Assuming there is no physical door damage that keeps this latch from rotating freely;
Ensure that little fingers haven't pre-rotated the mechanism so that it presents the wrong surface when the door is closed. Operating the electric door unlock feature should return the latch to the correct open position
-It may be corroded. spray some WD-40 into the mechanism in the door and rotate it, release it with the electric release switch before trying to work it back open if necessary. If this is the issue, finish with some graphite lubricant spray once it is free again
if the latch does not electrically lock, the choices for your mechanic are, the fuse, the wiring, the body and component connectors including one above the rear end differential which, is exposed to some nasty wet and muddy environments and the actual lock / unlock solenoid at the door latch.
Sorry for the varied answers but the question was a little broad. Good luck.
that would happen to me and my sisters almost regularly when I was younger. Simply pull the greasy latch open with your finger while operating the door latch that would normally open the door. If its too tough for a finger, which it should not be and never was for me then you could use a screwdriver to pry it, but obviously nothing will happen if you do not pull the door latch at the same time.
First of you need to take the panel of the rear door from the inside then you can just grab the rod and pop it open. With the door panel off it is an easy thing to replace the handle just a couple screws are bolts to take lose .Also make sure you put the rods back just like you take them off may I suggest taking a picture if you can of the latch inside the door. Good luck.
Open the hatch and slip a screwdriver's shaft into the opening of the latch (simulating that the latch has engaged the metal bar on the floor of the SUV). Apply pressure in the latch via the shaft of the screwdriver. While pulling against the latch, operate the unlock button of the fob or unlock with the key (whichever your truck has). When it is unlocked the latch will allow the screwdriver to open the jaws of the latch and pull through them. The latch jaws should now be open and you should be able to close the hatch and have it latch and lock.
The locking mechanism on the rear lift gate for the Chevy Uplander has some plastic and rubber-coated parts that can get jammed. If you can pull back the panel from the inside top near the glass, you can reach down and try to spray some silicone lubricant into the lock. This could help get those parts unstuck so they spring back when you pull on the handle latch from the outside. Once you get the rear hatch open, I recommend taking out the locking mechanism and thoroughly lubricating it. Your rear lift gate will start to release very easily from then on.
first clean it with some brake cleaner, then with a screwdriver in the latch pull slightly while operating the latch and it should undo itself, when you get it free, spray some lithium grease in the mechanism and work the lock a few times like you did while trying to free it when the lock seems to operate freely go ahead and open and close it a few times to work the grit and grime out of the latch,. lubricate the other locks the same way after cleaning them as well.
One or more of your sliding door may have lost their learned opened/closed position.Also the door may be binding,obstructed or need a latch adjustment.If a relearn is required return to a GM dealership as a diagnostic scan tool is required.
2 possible solutions. First clean the door pin contacts(multiple spring loaded pins on door side and matching plate on body) with a scotch pad until shiny gold color again. Second the rear edge of the door should be 1mm inside the body opening when closed. If those are correct it is going to take a software download from a dealer to the door control module to fix this. Otherwise you will have to pull the psd fuse and breaker from the right side dash fuse box.
