I can clear both codes using the read at Advance Auto Parts, then after about 2 minutes of driving the CEL comes back on. Can leaving these conditions unattended do any damage? The car already has 177,000 and I just rolled it in a minor snow storm last month. I had a mechanic do a visual check and he saw no issues. The car seem to be driving normally.

check your O2 sensor and wires other thinks that can cause that problem is when the engine is running in close loop. u should check if the other codes have to do anything with the coolant system. u should fix the other codes first and see if the p0157 go away.

Usually what causes this code is a blown fuse from the wiring harness shorted on the underside of the intake manifold. It usually rubs on the brace or the bottom of the intake and shorts out a wire and blows a fuse. Do you have any other codes? If so post them. Check this first and tell us which fuse is blown in the fuse panel.

well i would replace the o2 sensor and find out why you got a cylinder 3 misfire, most likely plugs and wires will do the trick

There is are upstream and downstream O2 sensors. 1 or 2 (upstream) before the catalytic converter which sends signals for closed loop fuel control and OBD II monitoring, and 1 (downstream) after the catalytic converter, which is used to monitor the catalytic converter operation. The PCM monitors the signal from each O2 sensor.

P1298 is a result of a alternator wire short. check fuse 6 in the driver's under dash fuse panel and see if it is blown. If it is check the black/yellow wire of the alternator and see if it is shorted to ground. repair the wire and replace the fuse. Also you might get the O2 sensor code as a result of this fuse being blown also.

I need to know what a knock sensor circuit 1 is (never heard of it) to understand how to fix it or the car. I found a prior posting answer for P1298 ELD voltage high.
