Water in passenger footwell of ford mondeo zetec 2001.

I have had windscreen replaced by autoglass - still leak from somewhere!! Ford have re-sealed the pollen filter - still leak from somewhere!! Ford say it is definitely the windscreen but I had autoglass back out and they put hose all over roof/windscreen but no leak!! I called Ford back and they say they can't hep any further as they are sure it is windscreen - it's NOT!! Where else can the leak be coming from? (i have a 2001 Ford Mondeo Zetec (uk) but have had to choose ford focus as nearest)

where does the water appear? (eg does the water run down the inside of the windshield from the top... or does the water drip from under the dash on the passanger side... or you see no water, just the floor mat is always wet.) the reason I ask is a lot of time water will enter the heating ducts system from under the cowel, it then travels till it finds a 'joint' where it drips out onto the floor. a lot of times the windshield is thought to be the problem. have the cowel removed and check for propper water dranage. (the windshield tech. could have bumped off or removed a drip rail/water guide)

I had the same problem. Take note of black plastic trim piece that runs along the bottom of the windshield. On the passenger side there is a pan type attachment to this piece of trim; it can become detached from the trim. In this case it needs to be positioned under the lower lip of the windshield.

My 07 grand vitari is leaking water in passenger side from dash foot area please advise .thanks

Easy one this, Remove the footwell carpet (Just un-pin it from the poppers and roll it up best you can, hold with tape if needed, you just need to get it clear of the footwell) Then dry the area with a towel. Get some kids waterbased paint (orange is good, shows up better) and coat the entire area (Dont worry it comes off with a wet rag). Let it dry then get a hose and go crazy! hose off the outside area, underneath, anywhere the leak is lightely to originate. Any leak inside the vehicle can be traced via the darkened now wet orange paint! simples!

If its the passenger footwell its almost always from the windscreen seal, Older Vits had a big rubber plug in the floor pan, these sometimes came loose!

If you do narrow it down to the windscreen, a word of caution. Dont try to simply spread mastic over the original seal! the leak will be from underneath this so applying anything on top is just a waste of time! The Guys at autoglass ect replace windscreen seals for a hobby. Next time you see a van driving around have a word with the driver. Most wont refuse a cheeky twenty quid for five mins work! Thats how I got mine fixed!

Water in drivers side footwells front & rear

What about a leaking heater core... If the defroster is on and your winshield fogs up temporarily when the car is first started, that is a good indication of a heater core thats leaking water inside the car... Have that checked, Im guessing its your problem..

No hot air lack of coolant and topped up with water and started working again on ford mondeo 18.o zetec. Next few days same thing no sign of leek but last time needed new hose ,as big hole in it wonder if...

If you are losing coolant, more than likely you have a leak somewhere. a small leak can be almost impossioble to find without putting the coolant sytem under pressure. Unfortunately, if you cant find the leak yourself you will probably have to take your vehicle to a shop. A prssure test will probably run you between 25.00 and 40.00 depending on the shop.

Seat Alhambra 1996 1.9L water leak drivers footwell

the water can travel along surfaces or beams in the car so you cannot tell where it is actually leaking. in my ford windstar water leaked in right over the fuse box. it ran along a cross beam from the passenger side. if it has those plastic strips they use to go in between small gaps in the metal... like along the roof where the roof is and the metal of the sides joins it is likely they are leaking. best to take a garden hose and have someone inside the car with a flashlight on the floor looking for leaks
