SOURCE: 93 Chevy Lumina Van Acts Like It's Out Of Gas

Your battery may be at it's very very end of it's life or is already in the battery heaven and no boosting is going to bring it back. Start with replacing the battery, if the money is tight do what i do and go to the Salvage Yard. The average price there for a good battery is $15,00 to $35.00, depends on the yard. Got mine for $15.00 and it may need to be replaced now, it's been almost 4 years. You want to pick one up that has the highest cold cranking amp (CCA) that you can fit in your car and there is date of service on the battery you want to look for. A bad Battery will cause your engine to stall if it's no longer holding a charge. Start with that and then we can worry about the harder things. Note: if the Volt drops less then 10.5 volts, the ECM will shut down the engine. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted.

SOURCE: car stalls

the problem sounds like it is not getting enough of fuel. check or replace fuel filter to see if this helps, also make sure fuel pump is pumping the fuel at the right pressure. have pressure checked if need be. if not enough fuel a vehicle will run at idle, but stall under pressure.

SOURCE: 1990 chevy lumina, idling problem... to rich.... stalling......

check egr valve for vacuum leak. pull hose from manifold. put hose in your mouth like a straw and **** on it. if the valve moves, then it's good. if it doesn't, you need a new egr valve. WARNING, they are fricking expensive! auto zone price $204. NO JOKE

1993 Chevrolet Lumina APV hesitates and dies when in gear

When it stops running and will not start back up, you'll need to figure out if you are lacking spark or fuel pressure to proceed with testing.

Ran my 1997 chevy lumina ls through flooded water...still runs but idles real high without even touching the accelerater and the temp runs high and have to shut it off let cool down before starting...

If your electrical wires got wet, it could cause all kinds of problems. You could have a bad idle control sensor or the idle may need adjusted. The electrical wires probably need time to dry out, if it hasn't been long ago. A bad map sensor can make the car idle high. Do you have a check engine light on now? If so, you need to get it scanned at Autozone for codes. Does the car die?
