Hi how are you.there is a couple of things that will cause a rubbing sound.if it is a high pich sound then look at your dust cover behind your brake rotor.a low pich or a growling noise check your wheel bearing/hub assembly.with wheel off the ground wiggle it side to side and up and down you will have alot of play.or there is something hitting the tire.

1998 Dodge Stratus rubbing noise when turning. Sounds like rubber against metal. No popping noise.

It could be several things ....
Wheel bearings - jack the front driver side up. First ... just rotate the wheel ... you should hear NOTHING. Any noise menas there is probably a wheel bearing/hub issue. Now take hold of the tire in the 9am and 3pm positions. Try to push/pull from side to side ... if there is any "play" in the wheel the bearings are going.
Brake line interference - a lot of brake lines have a plastic sheath in the wheel well area ... check to see that the line/plastic sheath shows no wear when you have the wheel off...that might cause the issue.
Steering linkage - even though the upper control arms were recently replaced look at all the ball joints and grab hold of them and see if there is any play/movement.
Repeat on the passenger side..
Good luck on your troubleshooting

I have a 98 chevy 1500 series that is making a rubbing sound in the front driver side, also you can feel it **** when you are driving. could it be a wheel bearing and if so how much does this usually cost...

is it a four or two wheel drive? It is my understanding that the C designates two wheel drive and that the K designates 4 wheel drive? If it is a two wheel drive it will narrow the problems down a fair bit, if it is 4 wheel drive constant then then there a couple of things i would check first. Secondly is the rubbing noise sound like a metalic grind?, a rubbery sound or a loud fast clicking noise?

When I am driving there is a grinding/screeching noise that started recently. it sounds like it is coming from the rear wheel and is intermittant.

The fault can be that the brake padds are rubbing against the drum, If by braking the sound increases then it is confirmed.
Howeverr if not the wheel bearings can be faulty, the rear hub can be faulty or the tyres are rubbing on the mudguard.
But lift up the side where you notice the noise and look for these sections, roll the wheel to confirm.

I do think the same way. If the pads look flat and not so worn have the rotor turned to eliminate the squeaksyou are encountering

Rubbing/grinding noise

Usually the strut bearing will make this noise upon turning a corner and hitting a rut or pot hole when turning. A wheel bearing will make a low pitched whinning sound constantly

Rubbing noise on drivers side coming from wheel

Could be a bad bearing or a brake dragging. Roll the car slowly with the engine off. Walk beside the car and if you hear the noise, you'll be able to tell more about it if the engine is off. Try pushing on the brake pedal as the car is being pushed and see if the noise changes.
If it does, then you can eliminate one cause.
