Check the fan relays. At the engine compartment. One may be stuck and keeping the fan running.Tap it a little bit before removing it. If it turns of , replace the relays.

Relay contacts stuck or the switch in the radiator ,go for the relay first though as most vehicles shut down once engine is turned off ,but not all hence check switch as well.Dont ask me where they are located on a cruiser as not many to the pound here in spain, and as yet i havent worked on one .if its continueing to run just pull a relay at a time till it stops .elementary dear boy as sherlock holmes would say.

Key is in off position still drawing power to fan

If it's the radiator fan that's running, it's supposed to run until thermostat shuts it off, not the ignition.

Fans wont shut off when ignition is off 99 prelude

Some cars are designed to allow the fans to run even with the key off until the engine and radiator cool down. If it continues to run after 19-15 minutes you may have a sticking fan relay, usually located in the fuse box in the engine compartment, just replace it and it should take care of your problem

It is 37 degrees outside so there is the engine is definitely not running hot. However, tonight after a 15 minute drive my radiator fan kept running for about 5 minutes after shutting the car off and...

Regardless of the temprature outside , an engine can definitely overheat if the thermostat is bad , or the water pump , or the radiator. The engine temp sensor is probably malfunctioning and sending a faulty signal to the fan relay.

Whay does my radiator fan stay on whaen i turn the car off

It stays on to continue cooling the contents of the radiator, which remain hot even after you turn your car off. When the coolant is cooled, the fan will turn off.

Why does my radiator cooling fan remain on after I turn off the ignition?

The car has a computer that is linked to the engine. It is hard wired to it meaning the computer is always on. Upon shutting your engine off taking the keys in hand the computer is still on sensing the engines temperture. The coolant sensor will send power to the relay to keep the fans running untill cooled down enough. Then the sensor will cut off power to the relay shutting off the fans

Cooling fan in Honda

On my 1996 Accord (4cylinder), this was caused by a tube inside my radiator overflow tank dropping off into the tank - the radiator would have too little fluid in it, so the fans would run a LONG time after shutting the thing down. The tank is in the front left, a white cap with a black tube running out of the cap to the radiator. Underneath the cap there should be a foot or so of hose - this is what fell off of mine.

Hooked it back up, made sure enough fluid was in the radiator, and no more problem.

The dashboard coolant heat gage will show the high temperature, also.

My radiator fan will not shut off. the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition. I even disconnected the battery and the re-connected it but the fan came back on. What is wrong?

The fan Should Turn off By itself after it cools of the Motor for a Little While. If not you might want to Check the Fuses and Relays. I Think that it is Probably Ok though. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
