We have a 1996 chevy silverado 1500 and a few weeks ago it started having problems, so we replaced the fuel filter a few times, replaced all the sparkplugs that were easy to get to because we just put new plugs in it a few months ago, replaced distributor, and replaced plug wires. But it is still acting up and sometimes we can only get it started with starting fluid. But when you get it warmed up, it will run perfectly. Then right after you shut it off and try to restart it, it does it again. We are getting 55 pounds of pressure at the engine, But could it be the fuel pump or what is it?
Just from what you said it sounds like your vehicle might not be holding its residual pressure which means after you turn a vehicle off, your fuel injection system should hold a certain amount of pressure in the system, but if that pressure drops to fast your vehicle may have a hard time starting. Things to look for when you lose fuel pressure is the fuel pressure regulator may be leaking, fuel pump check valve,leaky fuel injector or they maybe a small leak in one of the fuel lines. I only suggested this cause i had a car with the similar problem.
