This could be a cracked tank for your radiator filler. Try placing a clean paper towel under the antifreeze tank and fill it with coolant. If there is a crack in the tank you will see it or the results of it. Replace the antifreeze tank - these things get cracked when people put water in the tank instead of mixed water and antifreeze. You get a hard freeze and bingo - your coolant tank breaks - usually on a seam and underneath it where you can't easily see it.

SOURCE: 1992 lancer gsr 1.8 dohc turbo. 4g93t eng cd5a chassis. start trouble shoot

9.3 is a really dead battery - replace it and check the alternator. I have seen them go bad with no dash indication. As to the oil being black, you may have worn piston rings, and probably need an engine re-build. Worn rings allow the exhaust of the engine contaminate the oil - you should also see increased oil consumption due to the vapors exiting via the PCV valve and being burned in the engine.

SOURCE: Car is leaking antifreeze from underneath of car

watch for leaks and follow them after you drive i would geuss checking your thermostate housing both parts, the hoses that go to the heater core by the throttle body and the hose that goes to the throttle body, im guessing this is the turbo, if it is a non turbo it would be a hoses the waterpump or the oring that goes into the waterpipe on the front of the block, just get in there and take a good luck and remember the rules of gravity =) good luck man and if you need any parts for it let me know we got alot of these parts cars out in our yard

SOURCE: transmission delayed engagement at cold start

Depending on how Cold it is where you are, The cold will effect the Operation of the Tranny. I am pretty sure that your Tranny is Fine, Just Really Cold. Depending also on where you live, I use Valvoline Quick Change to service my Vehicles when I am on the Road. Have never had a Problem with them. On the Fluid, They make so many Different Kinds now adays that it is hard to Choose. Look in the Back of your Owners Manual and Use what is Suggested in there.

SOURCE: rattling noise during engine start up.. 2005 mitz galant 2.4l

Probably a heat shield. Often time the screws that hold the shields in place rust away causing the shield to rattle. After the exhaust heats up, the pipes and shield expand causing the shield to stop rattling until it cools down again later when the car has been sitting for a while. Usually you'll find shields under or around the catalytic converter and around the exhaust pipe nearest to the engine. Most folks would probably recommend you remove the shield and be done with it. That's your call. Just remember though, the shields are there for a reason. In particular, the shield under the catalytic converter is there to prevent the possibility of starting tall grass on fire in the event you had to pull off the road for example to fix a flat tire or something along those lines. It might be unlikely, but its definitely been known to happen. Let us know how it goes. Thanks.

SOURCE: 2001 Mitsubishi Galant Transmission problem?

Could be a few things:

  1. Low on auto transmission fluid; this would cause you to lose a few of the forward gears (reverse is used less often so its the last gear to go Start the car and add fluid to the specified markings on the Auto Transmission dipstick
  2. Bad auto transmission fluid; Check the fluid, if its brown and gives off a burning smell, it needs changing along with the filter
  3. Bad transmisssion; if neither of the above are true, then it sounds like the clutches have burned out on the transmission or the transmission itself is bad; if 1 or 2 hasn't solved your issue the car needs to be diagnosed at a reputable transmission shop; Make sure they lay out all of your options and if you decide to have a major transmission repair done, the Kelly Blue Book value on a similar car similarlly equipted in exellent condition is about $6,800 retail
I hope this leads you in the right direction. Don't be afraid to post back with any questions. Best of luck.

Motor oil spewing onto the engine. my car is a 1996 chevy cavalier and well maintaned. it has a radiator leak also. could the antifreeze be mixing with engine oil

Unfortunately, this sounds like you have a bad head gasket. The motor oil is most likely mixing with the antifreeze as well. This also explains the antifreeze leak.

I wish I had better news for you! :(

Start up issue

the gears are not moving when the car is in park, therefore, no noise from the trans.. it is coming from somewhere else. quite possibly, it's the starter motor is continuing to spin. have someone listen under the hood while starting. if it is the starter, the noise will be more prominent when listening from under the hood. how long does the noise last?

Car started then stalled and now car cranks but won't start plenty of gas in tank

Turn key on but dont turn motor listen for humming on either side in back of car,.if you hear nothing your fuel pump or fuel pump relay needs to be replaced..Also if you tend to run car to almost empty your fuel filter might be plugged. Running close to empty causes all the rust from the bottom of the tank to plug the filter.

Mitsubishi galant stopped while driving and all transmission fluid spilled out

sounds like his transmission just died. On most cars whan the transmission goes, components inside fail and the car quits moving. But on some vehicles the transmission literally self destructs and blows a hole through the transmission housing, leaving a puddle of transmission fluid like you described. I've seen it before on Chystler products but not Mitsubishis, but from what you've described it sounds the very same.
