Resetting service engine soon light in my 2002 cadillac escalade

My service engine light has come on and i have had my vehicle service. how do i reset this light

    2007 Cadillac Escalade backup camera will work for a few seconds, then start to flutter like it's loosing signal, then it turns into a black screen with a "service camera system" warning that comes on. Any ideas what the problem could be?

  1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position.
  2. Press the INFO button on the Driver Information Center (DIC) button to display ENGINE OIL LIFE.
  3. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes 2 times, the system is reset. However if the light comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, the system did not reset. Repeat the he procedure if the system does not reset.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF.

The "P" implies Powertrain, but I understand this code to relate to your vehicle's computer which is unable to boot up properly as a result of being unable to read certain data. This may be from a faulty PCM, or low voltage to the unit. I would check both, and ensure you check the ignition as several things validate voltage from there.

How do i reset the service engine light soon? It stays on after i have changed the oil and filter and reset the oil life sensor to 100%.
The service engine soon light indicates a problem.
Take the vehicle to AutoZone and have them read the computer code.
They can give you an idea of what the problem is and reset the light for you.
BTW the service is free

The car is telling you there's a problem. The light isn't there to bug you or anything. It shows that something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. Fix the problem and it will go away. What a concept!

Engine light came on then security light also
Recommend to have codes pulled via scan tool. Lights can come on for many different things. Possible bad ignition switch assembly can cause both check engine light and security light to come on.
