Hello and thank you for using FixYa!

I would try to see if you can get your remote to program. Here is a link on how to program your remote. When you get to the point you need to press the button to program it. If the lights don't flash, it's possible you need a battery for the remote, or a new remote.

Thanks Jay!

Try not carrying your remote in your pocket. To turn off the honk, hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for at least 2 seconds.

The horn on my 94 park ave no longer chirps or lights flash when locking with remote. They use to but awhile back I changed it and cant remember how I did it? What is the procedure?

Press both "Lock" and "Unlock" on the key fob at the same time for about eight seconds. The horn will sound once, and the headlights will flash to acknowledge that reprogramming is complete. Stand within, 3 feet of car. God-Bless!Thats what my info, says to do!

I have a problem with the electric lock security system. Under normal conditions if I press the unlock on the key remote, the lights will flash once and the doors unlock. When I press the lock button

if this is a factory lock security system you can contact dealer for instruction sheet to re-program your remote or have them do that for you if vehicle is under warranty. if not you can go online and find the procedure for your make, model and year of vehicle. sounds like the remote's battery is need of replacing or the remote needs to be re-programmed

Horn beeps on lock/unlock since battery replacement

Check the owners manual. There may be an option to turn the chirp off.

I got the Viper 5101 remote start installed in my 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe at best buy. The remote works for auto start, but will only lock and unlock the doors sometimes. It seems like if I unlock or lock...

I would take it back and tell them they need to fix it. it sounds like a wire for the lock/unlock may of fallen off or there is a problem with the remote stare module. wires tend to fall off if all the used were crimp connectors and didn't solder the wires together.

I have a 2000 pontiac trans am. when i set my alarm my haedlight pop up. they never use to. replaced module, and headlight motors, still didn't fix it.

In your owners manual on pages 2-19 and 2-21 tells you how to change this.

Entering Programming Mode
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN, then to OFF. This will
disarm the content theft-deterrent/alarm system
(if equipped).
2. Remove the RADIO fuse. This fuse is located in the
main fuse block which is located on the left side of
your instrument panel. The radio fuse is on the lower
right-hand corner of your instrument panel. See
"Fuses and Circuit Breakers" in the Index.
3. Turn the ignition key from OFF to RUN three times
quickly (within five seconds). The vehicle will
respond by locking the doors, unlocking the driver's
door and releasing the hatch. Your transmitter is now
ready to match the vehicle. Leave the ignition
in RUN.
4. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The vehicle will
respond as in Step 3.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the remaining transmitters.
6. When you have finished matching all of your
transmitters, replace the RADIO fuse.
7. Check that all transmitters work by pressing
the buttons.

Programmable Modes
Your vehicle can be programmed to one of the
following modes:
Mode 1: All Off (The headlamps will not flash and the
horn will not sound to provide you feedback that a
lock/unlock command has been received by the remote
keyless entry transmitter.)
Mode 2: Horn and Lamps/Lamps (Your horn will sound
briefly and your parking lamps will flash when you
press LOCK on the remote keyless entry transmitter.
Only your parking lamps will flash when you press
UNLOCK.)
Mode 3: Horn and Lamps (Your horn will sound briefly
and your parking lamps will flash every time you push
LOCK or UNLOCK.)
Mode 4: Lamps (Your parking lamps will flash every
time you press LOCK or UNLOCK.)
Mode 5: Lamps/Horn and Lamps/Lamps (Your lamps
will flash upon the first press on LOCK, your lamps will
flash and your horn will sound upon the second press
on LOCK and your lamps will flash upon any press
on UNLOCK.)
Vehicles are delivered programmed in Mode 5.
To change the mode, do the following:
1. Press the UNLOCK button on the remote keyless
entry transmitter.
2. Count the number of chimes you hear. The number
of chimes tells you which mode your vehicle is
set for.
3. Press the UNLOCK button, again, on the remote
keyless entry transmitter until you hear the number
of chimes that correspond to the mode selection
you want.
The mode you selected is now set. You can either exit
the programming mode by following the instructions
later in this section or program the next feature available
on your vehicle.

When programming is complete, turn the ignition to
OFF and reinstall the RADIO fuse.

Hi...we just replaced the battery in my 99 Toyota 4runner Limited. Now when I use the remote key to unlock or lock the vehicle it no longer makes the beep horn sound. The remote itself still works to lock...

The aftermarket remote starter probably reset. Do you have the instruction manual for it? You should be able to run it through the initial 'start up' options and set the horn to beep for you.

Remote control no longer opens the lock

Sounds like the button to unlock doors on the fob is worn out. You can purchase a new one or used from your local recycle yard.
