2005 Buick Rendezvous Fuel Gauge

Fuel gauge went from one half to empty in a matter of 3-4 seconds, and low fuel light came on while I was driving yesterday. I refilled the tank and the gauge did not work. What could cause this and how do I fix it? my tank goes to empty when ever full or over half tank and changes to full when it feels like up and down up and down very dangerous for winter if u run out of gas on high way you will most likely freeze

    I have the same issue with my 04 it just happened today to me and i freaked out. This car has been nothing but a nightmare.

    it's a common issue with the rendezvous. i have heard techron fuel additive works with one or two bottles but even if it works with one use one more.it apparently cleans the dried sulfur deposits left on the sending unit by gasoline

Well the gage is made of rubber it could be sticking no other way than to replace the gage itself/ please rate my response thank you very much

T might be the float in tank going out on u. Not no biggie if you know how much gas you got. Kinda like float in back of toilet bowl in your bathroom. Gl

Put a fuel pump assembly in it. you can have this done at any shop and get the part from any local parts store. i had the same problem and replaced the fuel pump assembly and is now fixed.

Chrysler sebring gauge
The fuel gage problem is either from a bad ground to the gage or the sending unit in the tank is bad. They will normally read a half tank or less when the car is full if the sending unit goes bad. I would put a scanner on the computer and check for any codes set.

Guages not working,
If all voltages checked ok,then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected.Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok,then also it can be faulty.Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such prolem arises.
Also check the fuse box.One under hood and other under dash.Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

No guages working

If all voltages checked ok, then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected. Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok, then also it can be faulty. Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such problem arises.


Also check the fuse box. One under hood and other under dash.

Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

My fuel gauge floats from full to empty when I stop at a light! And its stays on empty until I drive for about five minute why is that? I can't get an accurate fuel reading!!

Sounds like you have a few different problems . GM vehicles had insturment cluster problems from 2003 to 2006 . Something called a stepper motor inside is what drives the gauge needles . Plus the fuel gauge also has a sending unit inside the fuel tank that can go bad . Your idle problem could be the IAC - idle air control valve on the throttle body or clogged air passage . Video's on youtube showing how to check these things .

How many miles in this vehicle? Anywhere near 100k or better the fuel pump and float(Your fuel gauge control ) owe you nothing. Its a lot of work.

2001 Buick Lesabre - Fuel Gauge not showing correct reading.
sounds like you probably need a fuel level sender. it's located in the trunk on the right hand side attached to the fuel pump. I got one on ebay for about 20.00, but you might as well replace the fuel pump while you're at it, as it can go bad with time.
