Last week I was cleaning my Jeep and moved the seats forward and up to vacuum under them. After I was done the motor that moves the seat upward/downward (there are two of these on each seat; one for front of the seat, one for back of seat) for both my passenger and driver seats no longer work.
When I try to move the backside of the passernger seat downward on all that happens is a click sound when I push down on the up/down control button and no evidence of the motor turning.
When I try to move the backside of the driver seat it sounds like the motor is turning, but the seat isn't moving up or down, so maybe a linkage of some sort is broken?
The car is old and I'm considering replacing myself as I'm sure it will cost a small fortune. Is this something that a person who can turn wrenches but is no expert can do? If so how do I go about finding out the proper procedure (preferrably with diagrams) for removing the seats and replacing the motors / auto adjustment components?
