Engine is over heating as soon as you start driving, its ok idling but start driving and up the temp goes and check engine light comes on. there seems to be a few bubbles in the radiator as well could it be a blown head gasket where do i find the thermostat i checked were i thought it would be in what looked like the thermostat housing "the one with the radiator cap on it"but nothing there i dont see how one would even go there must be somewere else, the engine runs really sweet not noisy or rough i hope someone can help me thanks david jacobi
The thermostat housing is located by grabbing the upper radiator hose, and following it back to the engine block.
The housing that the hose is connected to is the thermostat housing.
Changing the thermostat will fix your problem!

The thermostat housing does not have a radiator cap on it. That is the radiator.
You need to look on the other ent of the hose. Dome shaped with bolts holding it down on the engine block.

Sorry, i was thinking the 4 banger....
in the V-6 the thermostat is near the water pump in the housing close to the lower hose.

There is no gasket, it is an o-ring seal. Should come with the new thermostat.

yes i know the radiator but on the other end of the top hose is a alloy housing with a radiator cap on it i never saw any thing like it thanks dave

Is the thermostat on the left or right of the engine?
I think your car engine has pretty much run its life, you can drive it as long as you keep the radiator filled up with coolant,your check engine light will be still on since the coolant drips on a sensor when it leaks and dont expect your a/c to work. The problem with your engine is that the head is cracked at the top and the coolant is leaking out of it. There is no solution except to replace the engine. I had the same problem and i had taken it to toyota and they asked me to replace my motor and showed me where the coolant is escaping from. Good Luck with you next car.
