Miss fire code on computer

My mechanic has moved coil packs to different cylinders ,replaced spark plugs and crank sensor. The truck seems to run just fine but after 4 miles down the road the check engine light comes back on for the exact same cylinders.Spark plug wires have also been changed.

time for a trip to the dealer, your mech doesn't sound like he really knows how to test the system to find the problem.

What cylinders are throwing the codes?

What are codes being thrown, and their description?

How many miles on the SIerra?

I agree with emissionwiz, but, you could also take it to a different mechanic too (it's not the skill of the dealer, it's the skill of the mechanic, regardless of where he works.).

I would be suspect of whether there is sufficient fuel pressure )as the problem didn't move with the coil packs), and/or of the fuel injectors for those cylinders.

I am sure emissionwiz would agree that the crank sensor was a bad idea, and that when the spark plugs were changed, the mechanic should have been able to see something in the plugs that would have given indication of the problem.

Let me know any additional details, including what the exact codes are, and their description.

Dead miss on one cylinder 99 sl2

A quick way to check the single coil pack if you know for sure which cylinder is miss firing and its setting a code you can swap the coil pack to another cylinder and see if the miss changes from one cylinder to another. If it travels to where you moved the coil then the coil is bad,if not you have other problems.

2001 dodge dakota is just started running on 7 cylinders, i changed spark plugs and coil packs 1 1/2 yrs ago. how do you test a coil pack ?

Since the 5.9 engine uses one coil and a distributor, I will assume you have the 4.7 engine with coil on plug ignition.
The easiest way to test the coil is to move it to a different cylinder and see if the miss moves with it.
Problem could be an injector or something mechanical too.

My 2004 chevy trailblazer is missing badly. Had them read the code for me at auto zone and it said I had a miss fire on the number one cylinder. I changed the plugs and it is still missing badly

Try moving the coil pack from cylinder 1 to another cylinder (swap locations) and see if the same code comes up. If code is different, then coil pack is bad. Other reasons for miss; bad injector, poor compression.
Also, I know you changed plugs already, but always use AC Delco 43-103 plugs on this vehicle.

Misfire in two cylinders

Check to see if the two cylinders misfiring are on the same coil pack. If so, change the coil pack in question.

This happened to me on 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine.

Also, check for a blown head gasket with compression test.

Truck not firing properly front coil pack not firing at all.

if this truck has an o2 sensor i would replace that and also make sure the cat-converter is not plugged, this would give you your powerloss and egr code, next is your coil, this may be caused by the computer or your crank sensor, look at the tone ring that the crank sensor uses and make sure its not missing teeth or broken, also check all your fuses.

91 LEGACY STARTED RUNNING ROUGH

The cylinders are numbered as on the spark pack you changed. You might have done better putting the seafoam in the tank as an injector cleaner. Not sure why you changed so many parts, you seem to know how to get the codes from test connector lead hookup and the blink pattern. You might also want to check the fuel rail pressure and the crank and cam angle sensors. Before replacing the injector, swap the #4 injector with the adjacent one and see it the code moves with the injector or stays put. If the code stays on #4, then check the injector wiring, if it moves clean or replace the injector.

92' Cavalier 2.2L 4 cyl. runs but has a miss coming from #4 cyl.

Matter not whether plug fires out of engine. Put it back in and clamp a timing ligh to it. If the light won't fire, you don't have enough spark to fire cylinder, hense miss.
