SOURCE: air only blows out from the floor when you switch

Sounds like you need a blower door acuator motor, which moves to direct the heat to where you want it to be

SOURCE: 2001 Jeep Cherokee a/c blows defroster only, no cruise control

There is a vacuum leak under the hood somewhere. Check the vacuum at the speed control servo. If there is no vacuum on the line with the engine running, follow the line to find the leak. The vacuum reservoir is mounted under the battery tray. I would look in that area after confirming no vacuum at the servo.

SOURCE: air or heat only comes out defroster. vacuum lines

If its manual lever that you have, then check the cable behind the unit with your temp controls.chances are it came off,or came loose under the dash.If its all push button vacuum operated, then its a air leak in the lines somewhere,or it very well can be a bad switch.

SOURCE: the Heater selector won't change from defrost to

hello, sounds like the cable broke or, lots of newer veichels use air lines, any way possible, check and see if air lines are still hooked up to the back of the heater controls, should be 4or 5 air lines together, all hook on one place behind heater controlls

You have a problem most likely with the air temerature control blend door actyautor or the door is jammed or in most cases both. Repair requires the dash to be removed so have it properly diagnosed as the repair is well over $1000.00

Heater only works on heat won't switch over to defroster or vents

Sounds like the blend door. The actuator motor is located on top of the box (behind the glove box) and is notorious for failing.

Defrost won't work

If the air does not blow out of the defrost vents, check the control and the vent door actuators for a vac leak.

Why won't my 1999 chevy 1500c will not change from defrost to vent. when i move the switch on the dash I see the linkage move under the dash, but it wont turn off the defrost, and not a full blast

These trucks use a small electric motor to control the blend doors. You may have a door that is sticking or a motor that is binding up.
You'll need to remove the motor assembly and take a look.

It is the vent control. It is located on the passenger side behind the dash. It is vacuum controlled. It can fail and not let you change the vent positions.

Good Luck!

I have defrost and vent function, but no heat to the floor.

sounds like your control for this function is bad also check the electronic bypass door switch electrical connection for looseness & possibly broken arms. With control on hot,the fan on low, turn the key on for @ 20 sec. With the key on turn the heat control all the way to cold now turn the key off instantly & put your ear to the floor next 2 the heat vent & u should hear the door of the vent make a whining noise hense changing from open 2 close 4 another 20 sec. GOOD LUCK!! BEEN THERE & DONE THAT!!!!

Heating / air conditioning control stuck to front defrost vents

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. Find the vacuum line on the passenger side where it comes through the firewall and follow it to the engine. You system needs vacuum to operate and without it the default setting is on defrost for safety reasons.
