I have the same problem. When I removed the drivers side wiper arm, I found that the nut that held the arm in place was only finger tight, which allowed the arm to raise slightly off the splined shaft. This caused the shaft to strip the splines out of the wiper arm.. after inspecting and cleaning the shaft, it appears that the splines on the shaft are still in decent shape. You may need to only replace the wiper arm. About $50 at a few online toyota parts sellers. replacing it is simple and requires only a flat blade screwdriver to remove the black cap off the nut, and a wrench to remove and replace the nut. simply remove the nut, and pop off the wiper arm. push the new arm onto the splined shaft pointing the same place as the passenger side wiper, then tighten the nut down. I would also suggest wiping the metal shavings off the splined shaft with some sort of abrasive pad, like scotchbrite, before putting the new wiper arm back on. I hope this helps.

I turned on my wiper when there was snow on the windshield. Now the driver side doesn't work but the passenger side wiper does work. Could it just need fuse replaced or is it the motor?

A good bet would be you most likely stripped a few of the splines located where the wiper arm mounts to the motor assembly. It's usually under a cap or lid of some sort.
If the wiper arm moves freely you could try to tighten the nut a bit more to secure it...this may work but won't solve the problem.
You'll most likely need to replace whichever part lost the most material (usually the wiper arm).
Good luck!

My 2008 chevy hhr only has one front wiper working. The arm is connected, and the driver's side works fine on all settings. The passenger side doesn't move. Whats wrong?

There is a link bar under the cowl (plastics under wipers) the bar has plastic sockets on each end that connects the left side(where the motor connects) to the right, so...when the left wiper moves it transfers the motion to the right

Same issue mini cooper 2002. main front wipers

Sounds like it's the earth wire issue. Try this:
1) Remove Driver Side Cowl(?) grill (top).
2) Connect a wire to buttom screw of wiper housing
3) Drill a hole on plastic wall to snake wire through (make sure wire is not loose for it might tagle while wipers are on)
4) Losen top left struts screw and insert other end of wire then tighten
5) Wala! Wipers work again!

2009 Touareg passenger side windshield wiper arm does not move but driver side does

sounds like the connecting rod between both wiper arms either broke or one of the keepers popped off under the connector for that arm..since the wiper system IS NOT designed to wisk snow off the window once accumulated, this can an does happen.. even seen motors get burned out doing this..cleaning the window first will save this issue and the equiptment. need to acess this arm<take off the vented peice below the windshield and everything should be visible there..repost findings

03 Taurus wiper problem

What I would suggest you do is the following:

1) Remove the driver side wiper (arm & blade).
2) Start the car and turn on the wipers.
3) When the passenger wiper is straight up and down .. turn off the car. This leaves the wiper in position.
4) Re-install the drivers side wiper and put it back on so its position is the same as the passenger - making them parallel

Start the car and test
