First and it's sort of obvious... make sure the motor is off.... look for a cap at the front of the motor where the fan belt is... may even be labled power steering ... you add the fluid there

Power steering tank full but still turning hard. 2001 chevy venture. Any ideas

With engine running, steering turned hard right or left, can you see the fluid churn in the power steering reservoir? If not, maybe one of the power steering lines is blocked?

I just wanted to add, with some makes and models. With everything off, I remove the power steering belt. I take the return line loose from pump, aim into container, rotate the pulley by hand, see if any fluid comes out of return line? The return line should be low pressure, usually held to pump by hose clamp. The high pressure line has threaded fittings.

Does the chevy equinox 2005 use steering wheel fluid... If so, where is it located in the engine?

The 2005 Equinox utilizes electric assist power steering. There is no hydraulic steering pump or reservoir.

Ignition key will not turn on my 2005 chevy equinox

Try turning your steering wheel hard to left or right while trying to turn the key and see if that resolves tour problem. Sometimes if you shut the engine off with the wheels turned the power steering will hold pressure against the steering lock mechanism.

I need to put steering wheel fluid for my 05 chevy equinox don't know where to put it in. Can someone please help me?...

2005-2009 models used electric power steering assist exclusively. There is mo power steering pump, reservoir, or fluid on these models. Instead they use an electric motor mounted to the steering column to provide steering assist 2010 models still use the electric power steering on the four cylinder models but also use a conventional hydraulic power steering on the v-6 models. If you have no power steering assist check the 60 amp main fuse for the power steering in the under hood fuse block if that is o.k. You will need a scan tool to find out what is wrong with the system. It is not uncommon for the electric motors to fail or for the fuse to blow while jump starting the vehicle.

I was trying to check the power steering fluid level in my 2005 chevy equinox but do not see where to check it, can you help me?

Your Equinox has Electric Power Steering or EPS for short and doesn't have a pump or fluid so that's why you're having trouble locating it. It uses electrical power, motors, and sensors to supply power assist when you are steering. Haven't seen any problems with them yet and they seem to work pretty well. One less thing to check under the hood which isn't all bad!

My power steering and brakes went out last night; what would cause both those to got out at the same time? There was a puddle of red fluid on the ground. A hose maybe? hopefully?

Yes could be a hose to your power steering or a leak some where's. your brake work off of your power steering pump because your truck has a hydraboost and not a brake booster that work's off of vacum, so if it's low on power steering fluid the brakes will not work, to check add fluid to the pump and have some one turn the wheel all the way and hold while you check for leak's, hope this was very helpful, good luck

We are trying to put steering wheel fluid in my 2005 equinox and can't find where it goes. Can you help?

05? fluid already low...follow your belt that goes around , well that turns your crank shaft air con. ect. each one of these has a pully (a wheel for the belt) one of those should be your power steering..if not some may even be on the side wall..make sure it says some thing about power steering fluid on the cap.
