Check the latch that SHOULD close around the striker. They sometimes get closed and will not function.
lift the handle as if you are opening it and poke a screwdriver at the latch.
It's pretty easy to figure out how it should work.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: replace rear seat belt in 1993 Toyota Corolla

OK. On the front edge of the seat bottom cushion, pull up hard, both sides. This will dislodge the 2 clamps that holds the seat cushion to the floor. Pull the seat cushion out & set it aside. You will now see the female latches bolted to the area where the rear of the seat cushion meets the rear seat back bottom. Remove the bolts (14 mm I think).

Sounds like either a linkage rod came off or the interior handle is broken. either way you have to take the interrior door panal off to see which it is.

Golf tdi wagon rear boor wont latch

check to see if the latch is not already half closed. If so use a round bar( Phillips screwdriver) that will fit under the latch and pull out while trying to open the door
sometimes the latch will move to half closed and will be in the wrong position to fully engage the retainer

Rear door latch 1993 GMC Safari stuck

If you stick a screw driver in the door latch and pull while pulling the door handle to open it should open the latch. Be sure to clean it up and re-grease the latch so it doesn't happen again.

Dome light dosn't always shut off, locks pop up and down on their own while driving.

sounds like you have a sticking door switch, the switch is loacated on the door latch itself, the hardest thing is to figer out which one it is , next time it sticks start out buy opening the rt rear pass door ,than the left rear, and than the right front, most of the time there is only one switch that sticks, the good thing is that the car has a GEM module that will turn off inside lights after about 10 mins to keep bat from running down ,you just have to narrow down which switch is sticking, when you find what door seams to be causing the problem, than you will need to remove the door panel to acceses the door switch, the door latch will need to be removed ,if you are not Mechancley gifted than i would sujest taking the car to a shop Note spell check not working ..

Rear door lock is stuck, cannot close door 1993 jeep larado

you probably nee d a new door latch assembly; inside the door, take alot of wd40, lube the door latch were it closes against striker pin, to free the movable part of the latch; push in on the door handle (like your opening the door), at the same time use a pointy screwdriver awl or flat blade scredriver and push the latch up and out of the locked position, its the movable part in the door latch, hopefully its not bent and will not move. also sometimes the door hinges wear out and the latch striker does not line up with the door latch pin, see if they line up if they do not close the door while lifting it at the same time. I hope this helps you
