1996 Volkswagen Passat GLS spurting oil from above oil filter. This happened a week after I changed my own oil and oil filter but I also just moved from a desert environment to a below zero type of climate. I only hand-tightened the oil filter when I put it on but it doesn't leak from the filter itself. What's happening?

take the oil filter off,the fitting that the oil filter screws on take that out your housing will then come off the oil cooler so you can replace the o ring

ya honestly just fixed that on my 1993! its not a big deal but u got to break it lose with a 24mm deep socket and it works!
SOURCE: Oil leaking into coolant -- not head gasket
check the transmission condenser or oil cooler built in the radiator..
SOURCE: Oil pressure drops to zero after warmed up or below 2700 RPM
Check the oil pressure with a test guage, if the finding are the same, the look at your oil filter, pump, pickup, or pressure relief valve.....
