Where do I find the Gearbox number and Code for a VW Beetle 1964

Hi Steven The gearbox used to have a steel tag attached to the side or attached to one of the casing bolts. The only other place that I can think of is a machined flat surface on the gearbox casing and the number inscribed on it. Sorry I am going from memory its been a while since I last saw a 64 Beetle.

Why does my 98 bug (auto.trans) won t get into 4 th when engine is hot ? (long drive)

im not a vw auto trans expert, but maybe your auto trans needs replacement of the fluid. thats usually the fix with other autos. dont think the engines heat matters, but the gearbox prob heats up on its own as well.

How do I change the headlight on a 1998 vw Beetle?

Lift the hood and if equipped remove plastic engine cover. On each headlight you will see plastic retaining latches. releasing these latches will allow the whole headlight assembly to slide out. Its a canister type assembly. You can then access teh bulbs to replace the lights. it reassembles teh same way
