My 2005 Hyundai Elantra's brakes cannot stop the car in cold weather unless the car is warmed up for 10 minutes, after which they function normally. Even stomping on the brake peddle with full force using both feet does not lock the wheels which slow, but continue to roll for several yards before coming to a stop. This is the third winter in which this has occurred, and multiple service visits have not come up with a solution
I am assuming you have vac assist brakes which uses a booster and vac from the engine. Sounds like the vac line between the booster and engine has ice or some foreign matter in it.
Thanks Stephen. When last serviced 2 months ago the "Brake Booster" was replaced but not the hose. Three days ago I was advised to have the booster replaced again (Under warrantee) and to have the hose replaced as well. However, the parts were not available at the time.Since the diagnosis the car performs perfectly! I wonder if the hose wasn't cleaned out during the diagnosi, and am having second thoughts about paying for the hose replacementat this time.I'd appreciate your thoughts out
Very possible the hose was plugged up. I would wonder what was stopping it up since it only carries air from the intake. If the booster is under warranty I would wait as long as possible to see what happens.

SOURCE: oil change procedure on a 2005 Hyundai elantra
This one is simple
1. Remove dip stick and filler cap.
2. Remove oil plug from oil pan and drain oil into an appropriate pan.
3. Remove and replace oil filter. (Filter will drain oil, just be aware to try and get it into the pan.
4. Refill oil. Start with 3.5 quarts, put cap and dip stick back on and start car, wait about 10 seconds and then turn off.
5. Check your dipstick for proper oil level.
And thats it you are done.

Check your engine oil and break oil weather it is in below low level or full, if it has in low level get an engine oil for your car module and pour it. otherwise go to authorized Hyundai service centre and check for it.

unless you can discover what DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has been recorded/set in the control module, it's anyone's guess.
