I have a 52 plate Clio 1.2, I have had nothing but trouble with the electrics for months. I finally think we have cracked it and now it has started screeching. It only started with this really cold weather but when I start it and engage the gear it screeches it continues with this in 1st and 2nd but once I get going it stops. Also a couple of times it looses power and kangaroo jumps doesn't matter which gear I'm in and no real rhyme or reason to when. Pls help I bought this car as a cheap run around and in 6 months I have spent more fixing it than I paid for it!

Question? will a 52 number plate 2002 Renault Clio DCi 80 bhp Engine and Gearbox fit into the body shell of a 51 plate 2001 Renault Clio Dci 60 bhp ???

yes it will providing you have the donor next to you for any final bits that dont line up ,But i wouldnt advise you to do it under the EEC directive ,the certificate of homoglonation wouldnt be correct so therefore the vehicle cannot be tested for the MOT .Unless the appropiate`paperwork is issued by a technical engineer then the work carried out by a authorised garage with a VAT number ,then said vehicle inspected by the technical engineer to ensure the fitting is correct and to verify the engine number .Now under the europeon directives iam a qualified motor vehicle technician and a member of the appropiate body so iam a position to offer you the technical engineers report and draw up a project for this job for the garage and the minimum fee for this sort of work is 1000 euros. Now please remember that unless i sign the paperwork for this engine swop you cannot do the the job and legally use the said vehicle on the road or get the cars documents changed and without this you cannot MOT the vehicle or get insurance .I didnt do 6 yrs at college for nothing which i did when i lived in the UK the certificates were only good to hang in the privvy but here in spain they are worht a lot more and lets hope that the laws are changed soon in the Uk before i die anyway so i can open a office and charge what i like for a rubber stamp on a bit of paper just like spain .

I have a clio 51 plate. I had the same problem as others with the immobiliser. I paid £275 to get a new key fob and it worked well for a few months now it is happening again, any ideas?

another renault hiccup yet again ,right look up under the front dash drivers side but i think you may be RHD anyway have a look up against the side part and if you see a box with five wires running to it that come from the ignition switch area ,then start car and with engine running cut the third wire along ,the engine will keep running ,so you do not need the clickky thing, now this will work with clios up to about 2001 i think it is so without knowing the year because a 51 plate means nothing to me ,when i left UK they were on a T at the end of the reg which was a 78 .

I have a renault clio 52 reg, the engine coolant keeps goin down

i have a clio, had same problem too. its the head gasket. when this breaks or cracks it allows water into parts of the engine it should not, and therefore the water starts to mix with the oil forming this 'light brown gunge' the problem is that when driving with a damaged head gasket you will damage the head of the engine too which is why this is reoccuring. your best bet is to take apart the engine, clean it out, buy a new head gasket and then get the head of your engine skimmed. this could solve the problem depending on how damaged your head is.

Catastrophic electrical problems

I'd check the terminal connections and twist them a little to see if they're loose or corroded.
Then follow the wires and check all other connections from the battery.
Can you jump start it?
If not it could be the solenoid or something else!
I once had this problem and finally discovered it was a melted connector under the dash on the drivers side right below the ignition.
I hope this was helpful!
Good Luck!
