hello,
Just FYI the 2.4 Volvo engine is equiped with a low oil/oil pressure cut out switch and has been known to fail per the Volvo TSB. If you have just changed your oil or have not changed your oil this could cause this problem. Typicly when an owner changes to synthetic oil or has low and broken down oil. Also a defective oil pressure sending unit may cause this prblem. All are easy fixes. The Synthetic oil problem is commonly cured by adding an oil treatment like Lucas oil. The sending unit can be checked with a DVOM/multi meter. You can also jumper the two wires on the sending unit to see if the car starts right up. If it does you have now located your problem.
Good luck
did a evap smoke test on a 2001 s60 Volvo non turbo and all the smoke was coming out of a round object with a little round nipple on it at the rear of the car on the right side in front of the back bumper
