Well it is called a lock lug nut tool or socket depends if they are factory or aftermarket. they some times have them at the dealer and they do make a lock lug nut removal tool kit that we use to remove them. we do AAAand carry them in our trucks just for this purpose.

Yes, it's a lug nut key for the locking lugs. Parts stores may have the one that fits your lugs, or dealer, or a salvage yard.

SOURCE: rounded-off lug nuts

The auto parts stores cary a special kit for removing these wear eye protection and if you have air tools it will make it much easier. don't use sockets not rated for air tools (they break and will hurt you)

SOURCE: Is there locking bolt to remove wheel on jaguar X Type 3.0

If you have all nuts off & don't see anything else, I'd bet money you have aluminum or similar rims (wheels) on it. With 2 disimilar metals making contact like they do, it usually causes them to corrode together, almost like they're welded. Try spraying some penetrating oil in by studs, and rotate tire to move it around a bit. In some cases I've had to get a good swing with a big rubber hammer ( to avoid damage to rim) from behind to break them loose, and even had some success with snugging nuts back up, then back them off a turn or 2, then lower vehicle so tires are back on the ground, and rock the car side to side pretty hard. Then jack it back up & try again. If car securely on jack & stands, or even better a hoist, sometimes you get away with a good swift heel to the tire from side to side. Good Luck, keep us posted.

SOURCE: tire stuck/lug nuts removed

use 3lb sledge on inner edge of rim be careful not to damage rim rubber mallet won't provide enough shock to loosen rust. ps leave one lug nut on so tire won't fly off.

SOURCE: i have a stripped lug nut and a stripped locking

If you have a socket you are willing to destroy, Find a socket that is as close to the size of the lug nut, but not bigger. Whack it on with a hammer, use a socket wrench (with enough leverage) to remove the lug. Locking nut: Find a socket that is about the same size as the lock nut, follow steps above. **This only works with the star shaped lock nuts and the ones that "key" goes into.

SOURCE: Can not remove lug nut caps 2003 x -type jaguar

I have an 04 xj8. the lug nuts are a good bad example of half baked engineering. the lug nuts are fabricated from ugly steel with an 11/16 hex end. to beautify this, Jaguar overlays the nut end with a stainless steel 3/4 inch cap, crimped to the nut. On top of this, the nut is to be torqued to 90+ ft-lb! The only way to remove the lug nut without damage is with a SIX POINT socket and a breaker bar or an impact wrench. Using a 12 point socket will deform the cap, causing the wrench to spin on the cap and or the cap to spin on the nut itself. If that has happened, it is possible to recover using a 15 oz or thereabouts ball peen hammer and a deep 3/4 inch impact socket (the black ones). Line up the socket to the cap, doing a best guess to where the flats are and give the socket a light blow. Keep trying that until the socket seems to stick on, then hit it harder. Eventually you will find the right point and the socket will go on and reform the cap. Then a breaker bar can remove the cap/nut. New assemblies can be had for about $6 from "partsbin" or "autohausaz".

Cannot remove stripped lug nuts.2006 Impala 3.9 V-6 aluminum alloy wheels.

Forget removing tire from its current position. Taking it off without the right tools is next to impossible and ............

Bang the lug nuts with a nice lump hammer to loosen up any corrosion. Then try heating the nuts with a torch, and with a good pair of vise grips and and an extension for them loosen the nuts to remove the rim.

I lost my key to remove lugnut lock. How can i remove it without lock key

You could use an angle grinder to make a flat notch in the top of the lug nut, right across the key pattern. Then use a large impact rated flat blade tip in an impact or other wrench. Depending on the length of the locking lug and how far it sticks out, you could try clamping on vice grip pliers and using a pipe or tube as a breaker bar on them. These tools can be obtained inexpensively from HarborFreight.

Of course, your dealer can provide a new lug nut lock for your car. Just give them your vin number, provided that the same locks that came with the car are on it now.

Hope this helps!

Lost lug nut key

If you lost the key to a locking lug nut, most tire shops can remove them for a small fee. There is a tool that you can buy to do it yourself. It should be availoable at most auto parts stores or tool supply stores. I have also used "impact" sockets that I have forced over the lug with a sledge hammer.

I have a flat tire, but do not have the special tool to take off the bolt. Any ideas? 2010 Honda CRV

Most auto parts stores have Locking Lug Nut removal tools. If you know the size of your lug nut you may be able to buy a single tool that fits on a standard ratchet to remove the locking lug nut. If your lug nut is the type that spins without the proper tool to remove it, your best bet is a mechanic with the proper equipment to avoid doing damage to the wheel or stud.

Good luck!

How do you remove wheel lock nuts without a key or bursting them on a 1994 mazda 626 diesel?

Gorilla lock makes special tools to remove these and are available online, or I would suggest just driving to a reputable tire shop in your area and have them remove the 4 lug locks ... I'm sure that they keep these tools handy and would only charge a nominal fee to remove your locks for you.

you would not be able to use that nut w/o a key, but at least you will be able to get the tire off.
