HI YOU DO NOT SAY WHICH MODEL ? however have you diconnected battery ? then removed starter motor? this will enable you to rotate g/box assy enough to clear the plate and enable to withdraw g/box assy complete with clutch housing once you have cleared the locating dowels on engine ?

SOURCE: Noise - similar to a worn out CV joint on cornering

10 years is not a long lifetime and wear is far more dependent on mileage. If it is over the 100, 000 mile mark, it wouldn't be unusual to have problems. A number of FWD cars have two CV joints (inner tripodal and outer) so checking only outer CVs may not find the problem. If the car is not a AWD vehicle, it would make sense to raise both front wheels from the ground and then with running engine, go through the gears and simulate the condition under which the problem shows up on the road. This may not be conclusive since the problem might not occur with no load on the drive wheels.

SOURCE: Removal of Manual Transmission in a 1990 VW Jetta

it is a major pain but it does come out you will need to rotate the rear of trans up and pull trans back far enough to disengage the pilot shaft that will let you move it toward the firewall just enough to clear flywheel. almost impossible to do on a trans jack, put on some gloves and eat your wheeties and yank it by hand. warn others there may be some cussing.

SOURCE: how do you remove the

The strut needs to be removed from the lower control arm. One bolt that holds the strut to the control arm. Loosen it and take the bolt out completely. Push down on the control arm so that it dislocates from the strut assembly. This will enable you to swing the strut outward and give enough free space to clear the CV from the hub.

SOURCE: tie rod stud spins before nut comes off vw jetta

You should not need to undo the tie rods, rather undo the lower wishbones and swing the hub backwards on the tie rod and the strut.

My mazda metro had a large bang when I engaged the clutch and then I had no drive after removing gearbox the the clutch and pressure plate is ok what could it be

Hi Frank Have you tried to turn the main shaft in the gear box, (the shaft that protrudes from the gear box that slides into the clutch center plate). Give it a wiggle from side to side pull and push it turn it does it feel intact. Put the gearbox into gear and put clutch center plate on shaft. Turn the plate is there rotation at the drive side now restrict the drive side from turning turn the plate again is there still rotation at the drive side, if not issue is in gearbox. If there is rotation move onto the drive shafts and hubs.
Also double check that you cant turn the flywheel without the front pully moving. Its unlikely but I have seen a flywheel sheer from crankshaft and still look intact. Obviously you have a drive issue and all the above needs to be ruled out. Good luck

My clutch has no tension and will not engage now that temp is -2

first check the adjustment on the clutch fork, you may have to shorten the clutch rod because when your clutch wears you actually get less play in your clutch (opposite to what you would expect) but if there is play in the clutch then your problem is that your pressure plate has colapsedthere are 2 styles, 1 has adjustable fingers, your pressure plate has collapsedthe other has a diaphram spring, which ever you have it is a pain, you have to put your truck high on stands, remove the tail shaft. next (and this is very heavy) remove the gearbox, once the gearbox ir removed, remove the pressure plate and clutch plate, next remove the fly wheel for machining, then replace it all with a new clutch assy. using a special aligning tool on the clutch

How to fix clutch on 1993 Geo Prizm.

Hi Juztlove, I agree with you....The world would be a much better place if we all did! Is your vehicle manual or automatic? If its automatic each gear has a clutch and to that job is difficult and needs a very clean workshop. If it's manual and rear wheel drive, the first operation is to remove the propeller shaft, if it's front wheel drive, it will mean removing the front suspension and then the half shafts. Before you begin disconnect the battery. Remove the pipe into the clutch slave cylinder and drain the fluid into a suitable container. Loosen the bolts holding the gearbox mounting and the cross member. Remove all the bolts around the bell housing and then with the help of a friend and a jack gently pull the box towards you and get ready to support the weight. Once removed and out of the way, remove the bolts which hold the clutch cover (pressure plate) that is what holds in the clutch plate. Did I mention that this is not an easy job? It would be advisable to replace the pressure plate, clutch plate and thrust release bearing at the same time. When fitting back make sure that the clutch plate is aligned correctly and correctly centralized as the clutch cover is tightened. Here comes the good bit....Refit the gearbox using any appropriate swear words which come to mind, until the spline shaft aligns with the clutch plate and then once it has, slide on the gearbox and begin fitting and tightening the bolts from the top. Refit the rest in the opposite way from dis assembly. By the way you can stop swearing at that time. Best Regards John.

You will have to remove the ront suspension both sides to remove the drive shafts before you can start to unbolt the gearbox and lower it ,then replace the clutch .Best advice is to look for a online manual on this site and download it ,if you cannot find a jetta manual then a golf or seat ibiza or a skoda octavia will all be the same as they all use a VW road train

Grinding in the gearbox area while driving

manual ,thank heaven ,dont see many autos here in spain, right without driving car so i can hear it then it stands two possibilities ,when clutch is depressed you hear a noise like a grinding squel ,this is the thrust bearing ,if you hear a rumbling noise that disappears when clutch is depressed then this is lay shaft bearings ,Now also the problem can be the fingers on the clutch plate are worn and the bearing is pushing the clutch plate fingers down but if one or two are worn away then the thrust bearing is being pushed through the pressure plate ,either way a new clutch is need and as these vehicles are rear wheel drive they are not difficult to renew ,Just have to make yourself a clutch alignment tool from a broom handle .Dont be scared of it they are not that difficult to do just dirty and messy thats all the hardest part is aligning the clutch so the spigot shaft goes through easly and you dont have to struggle pushing the gearbox in

Need to remove gearbox off a 95 S10

I am going to answer this assuming that we are talking about a 2 wheel drive 1995 Chevy S-10, and not the 1991 Sentra your question is listed under. First disconnect the ground lead on the battery, then remove the shifter boot and the shift leverfrom the topside. Then remove the drive shaft by taking the u-bolts off the differential end of the shaft. Put an oil drain pan under the transmission tailshaft, slide the shaft out of the transmission, then unscrew the speedometer cable from the tailpiece of the transmission. Place a jack under the transmission and remove all of the mounting bolts. Remove the bolts holding the transmission bell housing to the engine and remove the starter. Unbolt the clutch slave cylinder, and with the help of a friend slide the transmission out of the clutch and flywheel. You may have to give it a slight turn to dislodge it from the engine. As the manuals usually say, reinstallation is the reverse of the removal. While you have the transmission out, check the condition of your flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. Replace or resurface if needed. If the slave cylinder shows any sign of oil leaks, rebuild or replace while you have a chance. If you found this helpful, please don't forget to rate it.

Removing emgine to change clutch plate in 1985 honda civic 1300 lx

I assume you are talking about the clutch to the transmission. They make a tool that will support the engine and allow you to remove the gearbox on most cars without removing the engine. It is a tight fit but much less work.
