Check with the place that checked the codes for you. Maybe they can test the IG sensor for you. That might help. Otherwise check all the connections relating to the sensor.

SOURCE: Check engin light came on my 1997 Honda civic lx.

The speed sensor would be located on the side of the
transmission.Pretty easy to replace,dependant on it's
location. As far as price,I have no idea. good luck.

Testimonial: "thanks for the help. They said it could be on one of the front wheels too. "

2007 dodge caliber. started jerking especially going uphill. service engine light stays on although no codes show up. any clues?

read the fault codes to determine what put the engine light on
regardless there will be codes and it just takes an experienced technician with the right connections to read them
next check the cat converter as it may be failed and blocking the exhaust system

My car has starting jerking. No i havent just filled with gas. My car also smells hot but temp, doesnt read hot

jerking might be misfire!
CEL glowing, or flash, clue 2 running
if yes, the CAT has to eat tons of raw fuel .glows red hot
and stinks, all do that like that.
thus the warnings in your operators guide.

CEL = check engine light in cluster, means get car serviced, now.

I was driving home on the interstate at 70 miles an hour in 5th gear and my car started jerking. why????

The engine has developed a misfire, most likely. Did the check engine light come on or start flashing? If so, find out what codes has set to determine which cylinder is misfiring and then proceed with the repair.

How to reset engine lite in dash

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

For more help, I suggest you to refer the help links provided below. These will let you know more about which areas to look, check, when there is engine light coming up on dash panel.

2000 chrysler concorde check engine light came on, dash lighs flash and transmission wont shift any ideas?

It sounds like you have a problem with your security system if you mean that it won't allow you to shift out of park. BUT you should start off getting the engine error code read so you will know what the car is trying to tell you. Anytime you get a check engine light, the vehicle generates an error code.

Since you probably can't drive it, you need to rent, borrow or buy an OBDII scanner and get that code, so it gives you a clue on where to begin the troubleshooting process.

1996 Buick Regal - Jerking while accelerating - check engine ligh

I need the fault codes. Without the codes I can't help, just to many possibilities. Have never heard of any fault code that cited Auxiliary emission control sensors" in my 35 years of emission repair on all makes and models. Sooooo... have the fault code(s) read again and write them down. Autozone does this test for free.

Check engine light intermittently flashing, car jerking.

Could be fuel or electrical related. Since you may not know the history, this may take a while.
Any amount of smoke from exhaust? White, Blue, Black?
Start with most obvious and inexpensive:
1. Fuel filer clogged (replace fuel filter).
2. Could be the ECM (Electronic Control Module). It controls the ignition spark timing.
A few other things... consider other expert solutions...
