If it does not crank, it could be a bad connection between the battery and starter, a faulty neutral safety switch, anti-theft system problem, or a faulty key switch. Not to mention a faulty starter. If it cranks but does not start, you would need to know if it has spark, fuel, and normal compression.

My 2001 Lincoln ls cruise control will not work. Put in a new clockspring and that did not fix it. radio controls and horn work but the air bag light stays on continually after starting. The lights on the cruise side will go on an off -I have bought that part to replace but don't want to put on if that is not the problem.
Ours did the same thing. Check the #26 fuse to correct the wipers, blinkers and radio. We also found out the car had a gps tracking device installed by dealer that disables the engine so they can repo it if a payment is not made. This happened to us when the dealer forgot to remove the device before selling the car to another deal who sold it to us. So when the previous owner was no longer making payments, they disabled our engine by remote. The device was under the steering column panel and wired to the starter.
any real answer yet? did the problem ever get resolved? i have the same problem with my sister's car. too cold to diagnose tonight, but will post the solution probably tomorrow. since the lights and heater works, but ignition and radio arent getting power, my first guess is there's probably a fried fusible link which controls the 2nd accessory power to the ignition switch. will post a solution soon.
Starter not turning over? Controlled by integrated starter selenoid. SOMETIMES, tapping the starter will cause the selenoid to operate. Assume that voltage (12Vdc) is getting to the starter when the key is in the start position (take 2 people and a voltmeter to check it).
The
security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the
engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your
hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to
start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.
