Where is the fuel door release on the 1988 XJ6?

I can find no buttons or levers and pushing on the fuel door doesn't release it either.

I don't have the owners manual, if I did I would have checked it first.

Well after looking in the trunk and finding it to be electrical (with it's own motor) I found a white lever that manually releases the fuel door. Thank goodness!

Ok......I found the white lever also......bit did the elite minds at Jaguar intend for us to open the trunk every time we need to fill up???

Look in the owners manual. There should be something in there that tells you how to open the fuel door.Good luck.

The location of the fuel door release

Hi Shelia that should unlock when you unlock the doors. Press the unlock button twice. If that's not working open the boot and under the carpet at the side the cap is on there is an emergency release for the fuel cap. They are usually clearly marked or a bright coloured cable. Regards Jim...

Trunk will not open fuel door will not open all fuses ok

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing. If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. Once the wires are repaired then I recommend you zip tie them in place and retest the trunk release button. If this does not answer any of your questions please feel free to email [email protected]

1995 volvo 850 I need to fuel up and I cant find how to open gas door

Should be a button or lever either under the left side of your seat, or by your light knob. push button or pull lever, if door does not open then you have either a broken/stretched cable (if you have a pull lever type release) or most likely a frozen (as in not moving, not literally) gas door lock. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem as this other person with the jaguar xj6

spray around the gas door with wd40 a couple of times and wait a few minutes for it to disolve the salt or crud or corrosion. Sppray again and even a third time of necessary.

once the door is opened, spray it again, including the hinge and the catch. then spray it again in a week or so and you will be good to go.

1988 jaguar xj6 engine turns over it wants to start and at times run for a few seconds

Hi
Sounds like fuel.
Check fuel inertia cut off switch is pushed down for on.?
Check for fuel pressure to the engine.
Sure your fuel is not water contaminated ?
Possibly the flow meter is faulty, or has an air leaks on the hose going to the inlet manifold.
I see you posted this on the 14th Dec O8 so perhaps you have it running OK by now ?
Good Luck !
John.

Jaguar 1988 xj6 3.4

This is a child safetly feature. There should be a small lever on the inside of the door frame on the door itself. You will have to switch it back in order for the handles to function again.
