Heater not working

The heat gauge is at the 1/2 way mark, the coolant level is good but there is no heat coming out of the heater why? I have the same problem. Engine temp 1/4 to 1/2 but heater blows cool. New tstat and ECS. In and out hose of htr core are hot with fan off and possible slightly different when on. Heater core itself is very hot on interior. Vent air flow seems lower on heat setting than cold (maybe from pushing through core fins). Slight cool breeze through vents even with fan off. Does 2001 SL1 have a blend door? Tested all fuses too. I hear a gurgle near heater core after start up which makes me think it's air locked but it feels way hot to the touch. Of course to feel it I have all venting off and no flow to dissapate it. Anyone?

Thank you! In an effort to find vent control like this
I found vent duct above heater core misaligned (white piece). Hope to move it over and that it hasn't become disconnected at the other end.

I would check if your vent to the outside is open. If it is I would check the vacum hose that controls the vent to open and close.

Little heat coming out of vents.

IF YOU CAN'T FEEL THE AIR FLOW OUT BUT YOU HEAR THE BLOWER MOTOR WORKING, BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX IS A CABIN FILTER.REPLACE FILTER
IF YOU HAVE GOOD AIR FLOW BUT NO HEAT:
1;VACUUM LEAKING TO HEATER CONTROL
2;WATER PUMP GOING BAD / NOT CIRCULATING COOLANT,HIGH RPM/MORE COOLANT TO THE HEATER CORE
3;OPEN THERMOSTAT/ENGINE TEMPERATURE TO LOW
1;CHANGE THE DIRECTION FROM VENTS TO FLOUR TO WINDSHIELD. IF NOTHING HAPPEN IS THE VACUUM
2;RUN THE ENGINE INSIDE ON WARM PLACE ON IDLE.NOTE THE GAUGE IF PAS 1/2 TO 3/4. IF PAS 3/4 MARK REPLACE WATER PUMP
3;IF GAUGE STAY BELOW 1/2 REPLACE THERMOSTAT
GOOD LUCK

It takes a long time for our heater to come on in our 2005 caravan what is wrong? The temp gauge reads warm and everything.

i would check your coolant level..sometimes if you get low your heater core (what heats the cab) will not flow warm coolant through it thus not heating...Another problem could be a plugged heater core..which isnt allowing coolant to flow through..in this case your can have the system flushed for around 80-100 bucks good luck

My 1998 saturn sl2 overheated temp gauge was only on half mark and its only 9 degrees outside heater never warmed up

Check your coolant level. Most causes of no heat are low coolant levels or blocked heater cores. If it overheated and has no heat I'll beat its a low coolant level. Check for leaks. Just because the gauge didn't go all the way up doesn't mean much. Those cars trap air in the cooling systems when the level gets low. That will cause those problems. Check for leaks and if a repair is made I also recommend a termistat.

2006 chevy silverado 2500hd truck heats up to operating temp while in parking lot blower works well but truck will not blow any hot air until truck is driving at at least 15 to 20 mph. fuses good think...

If I understand you correctly, your temp gauge shows correct operating temperature, your blower fan blows air that you can feel with your hand from the right floor or dash outlet, but that air doesn't feel warm until you are moving?

If so, several possibilities come to mind. One is that your coolant level is low. Even though your temp gauge reads in the right range, the coolant level could be low enough that it doesn't reach the heater core until there is enough engine RPM to create more pressure from the water pump and force what coolant is there toward the heater core. Another possibility is that your heater controls are not able to do their job. A stuck flapper in the duct or a malfunction with the temperature control system could be causing the problem, and at 15-20 MPH there is enough air coming through the outside air vents to provide some heat.

I'd check the coolant level first, though. The other possibilities are more far-fetched.

Heater not blowing heat only cold

Check the coolant level. It is common for the intake gaskets to leak causing the coolant level to drop. The first thing to stop working when the coolant gets low is the heater. Top off the coolant and determine where you are leaking coolant whether it be the intake gaskets, hoses, radiator, water pump, etc.

If the coolant is full what does the temp gauge say? Once the vehicle is warmed up it should read around the 200 degree mark. If its below 190 than the t-stat is stuck open. Replace the thermostat.

If both of those are fine and the coolant looks like mud than your heater core is plugged. You can try back flushing it with a water hose. Remove both of the heater core hose and use a water hose to flush out the heater core. This may take several tries before you start to feel some heat.

My temperature gauge read red... the light came on and I turned the heater on to try to help it cool down,it worked, but there was no heat coming from the vents. when i turn the heat off, temp rises...

Have you checked the coolant level? If it is low, what you describe will happen, the engine will run hot, and the heat won't seem to work (coolant level too low to circulate through the heater core). Hope it's that simple, if not, let me know and I'll attempt to help further. Good luck!

The engine seems to overheat and the internal heater blows cold

The problem is your coolant level has gone too low check and top up when engine is cold, you will see the marks on the expansion bottle, if prob persists there may be an airlock in the heater radiator. keep an eye on coolant level or you will have cylinder head problems.

Heater not working

you more than likely have an air lock in the cooling system you need to bleed the system of air, has the coolant just been replaced?
does the engine fan come on to stop the vehicle overheating?

No heat

The most likely problem is a stuck heater switch. follow the heater hoses from the firewall to the engine block, somewhere along those lines will be a switch that allows the warm coolant to pass through the heater core. place your hand on both sides of the switch with the car warmed up, if the side towards the block is warm and the side towards the heater core cool then replace the switch.
