Bad neutral safety switch, starter relay, starter fuse or bad ignition switch. You will have to check each of those things to find what's keeping the current from reaching the starter, when you try cranking.

I've had a similar problem to the above and although I'm not sure what causes the problem, I just depress the brake, put it in neutral and start it right up.

alarm systems on these vehicles will normally have a start then stall condition. then a lockout. if it doesnt start at all I would first suspect fuel problem. if when u turn your key on listen to fuel filler neck to see if u can hear pump run for 2-3 sec. if u can hear it run you may have a crank sensor or cam sensor failure. those 2 control spark and your engine will not fire unless both inputs are supplied.

Your dealership can read the codes entered into your car's computer every time it malfunctions. Same problem as yours, however, also gets worse, back up lights won't work, sticks in park (in the gas stationing) (very embarrassing), will only run with foot on gas, etc. It was the "neutral safety switch". $500 fix but runs and starts perfectly all the time.

I have a 94 jeep cherokee that wont turn over or wont start?

No cranks is here
https://www.jeepdied.com/no-crank.html
TURNS OVER MEANS ZERO.
the starter just CRANK.
THE START MOTOR TURNS
IF lucky so does the crank shaft turn.
then the engine starts and runs, (this is not turns)
it's running
the EFI then sustains running , if ABS stays happy.
the engine can also stall.

My 1998 jeep cherokee wont crank or start whats wrong? i replaced the battery and still wont crank over but all lights and electrical work

sounds like it is the starter or ignition switch. To shade tree test the starter you can jump it out with a screwdriver, this is sort of tricky if you have never done it before. Someone will need to turn the key and then you take the screwdriver and tap the posts on the starter, if will arc the screwdriver., but start the vehicle. You can also pull the starter out and have it tested. The see if it is the ignition switch you will need to trace out the wires and make sure they are all working correctly. Good Luck Tim

95 jeep cherokee country 6 cyl auto. wont crank all the time

Bad solenoid i would guess. Not making a connection there. Any basic wiring and ignition switch problems should be alleviated by jumping the starter with a screwdriver. I would check the solenoid and starter brushes

When I turn the key over on my 94 wrangler 4.0

If you can jump starter, the starter solenoid has failed. Either change solenoid or starter&solenoid as unit & you should be back to normal!

94 jeep cherokee has no power at the starter.when key is turned

Check neutral safety switch... On automatic AW4 transmission it's on the passenger side, directly across from gear selector shaft. The two inner terminals on the side opposite the clip lever on the harness connector are the ones that operate starter. If you jump across these you should get voltage baqck to the small wire on the starter solenoid.(trigger) The switch itself is about $200, but can be rebuilt or replaced with a salvage yard part cheaply. Get a manual fro removal, and follow them carefully. PS: connector is up near ;the trans dipstick!

94 grand cherokee will not start after giving a jump start...

does it turn over? if it clicks and then stops really fast, it's your starter. don't worry, if it's the 4.0L it's an easy fix. 3 bolts and a hundred bucks and you'll be on your way. however, if all the interior electronics work, but when you turn the key nothing happens, you need to go through and clean all the electrical grounds and battery connecters. it happened to me (ironically my starter went out too) but that is the general problem. 1st gen grand cherokees are notorious for bad grounds.
